...this is not a wtb ad even tho i am looking for one.

what i can't figure is how come there are so few of these lenses around?
rare here and also on ebay, were they a low sales item originally and the lack of used ones is just a reflection of how many there are out there?

In canada even- in chrome!
I think the poor dears just got overshadowed by the Nokton. The nok only cost a little more for way more speed.. but that thing is huge. In the daytime, the skopar is my fave now.. The hear-say buzz on the web was never kind..
Once you get on in your hands and feel the mass and oozing quality (I guess from the mass=quality conditioning) it's not something one feels like selling.

i'm hoping for a black one to match the other lenses.
i know the feedback on them has been quite mixed but the web pics i have seen seem ok to me.

I would be taking mine (CV50f2.5) on holiday, but I want to see how the 50 Elmar 2.8 (original) does with slide film.

I'd guess not as many sold, so less in the used market too.

they are still available james but i would prefer to buy a used (cheaper) one as it won't be an often used lens for me.

by the time i get around to getting some spare change all the lenses will be discontinued and my "R" will be a paper weight!

just checked and you're right!
damn...wonder if they will make an m mount version or not?

no M version.
discontinued due to poor overall sales
which is odd because they were very popular in Japan
but not elsewhere.

I guess most Japanese were not able to read the bad reviews in English.

Apparently they were more popular in Japan, not so much in NA.

I would not doubt it. The way "fast" glass and pushing B&W film is so manly I can imagine people seeing the f/2.5 as "wimpy" slow or something...

Please move WTB adds to the classifieds ...

:D

didn't you see my first post...
and i already have a wtb ad there...;)

the reason i want one is for the r4. the camera is great but it really needs small lenses to take full advantage of the frame lines and while i doubt i would use the 50 much i like the idea of having one for it.

thats why i wanted one for my "R" i can see the 35 lines alright i have to strain a bit, but i would feel safer just knowing i had a 50 in case i needed it...

I know, J/K Joe.

I do think it might come in handy to have a 50 around when you
only carry the R4, for portraits and such. Should be similar to a 90 on
an .72 M.

Good luck,

Roland.
