I don't think it was that sharp at distance either. I know sharpness isn't all but when my $600 ricoh grII is way sharper than my $2000 x-pro2/23mm combo something isn't right. The 35/2 is really great. Guess i will use the 35 in my fuji and the Ricoh for my wider shots.
You must have gotten a bad one of something... Can't complain about the sharpness of mine... I've got the Ricoh GR as well great lens have zero complainants of that lens...

A 16mm f/2 would be really nice. As an alternative, I would accept a new 18mm f/2 with better optical quality...comparable to or better than the Ricoh GR lens.

By all indications they are bringing out a new version of 18/2. The 16/1.4 is considered to be the best of the Fuji lineup. A smaller lens would be nice but perhaps just pick the existing one!

The 23mm f/2 is known not to be sharp up close but does well in all other cases. That said, sharpness isn't everything.
I bought jsrockit's 23mm f2. Great seller BTW. I found the lens to be, like almost all modern lenses, to be better than my skills as a photographer. But, I am one who has more interest in what emotion a photo conveys unlike many here who are more interested in cameras and lenses than photos.
I can say that I see no difference in sharpness looking at my prints than compared to the spec'ed sharpest lens which happens to be the ContaxG 45mm f2 Planar.

I should have kept it! But having that AND the X100F didn't make sense to me. People complain about the lens in the X100 series as well. It's always freeing to just make photographs than to design tests that prove that you can find flaws in your gear.
