No images on newly developed film

I developed two HP5 plus films and when I removed them from the tank both films were blank.

I've been doing this for many years with never a problem.

I had poured in the fix instead of the stop bath after the developer was emptied out. A silly mistake which I haven't done before.

I am hoping this mistake has caused this problem.

The films were shot with two cameras, an M6 and a 35ML Minox.

Has anybody ever had any problems similar to mine.

I didn't thinking by ommiting the Stop bath my films would burn clear.

Hm, without stop you just spoil your fixer as far as I know.

Are the frame numbers there?

Adding fixer directly after developer should not cause this problem, Robert. All it will do is weaken the fixer and thus fixing will take longer. This sounds more like you used the fixer first. Is there anything on the rebate?

I never use stop bath. Always go from dev right to fix, that isnt your problem here. Are you sure you didnt leave your lens cap on? :)

Are the frame numbers there? - good question.

No frame numbers, just clear film.

I checked my fix, it was added after the after the developer.

I have shot the odd time forgetting to remove the lens cap but maybe just one frame lost.

If no film numbers on the film, you did not develop your film. Either you used broken developer, water, stop or fixer instead.

Oh, just reread that you shot with the minox-missed that the first read.
hmmm, could be bad developer as Mark said.
One thing Ive done before and emabrrassed to admit...is to take film out of the camera, set it aside to dev later. Instead of grabbing the exposed rolls I grabbed unexposed rolls and developed. Any chance? Just thinking of all possibilities.

sounds like the film never got a developing agent on it. Maybe the dev was waaaay too weak, you underexposed the roll, poured in the wrong measuring cylinder as others have suggested. Its a shame either way, can you reshoot the photo's?

I've had one clear FP4 back from the lab without anything on it, they've souped it in C-41 chemistry :-(

This can't be the case here, so I'd blame the developer, somethings gone wrong with that.

Edge numbers are burnt in at manufacture, so still appear on an unexposed roll. This film is undeveloped or drastically underdeveloped.

Then you have the film markings and frame numbers, I know from experience :)

Thanks for the replies.

I really don't know what's happened but I will be changing my developer, fix and stop bath.

My Minox has a sticking shutter, I will be retiring this camera but my Leica is perfect.

I will just can't understand what happened, I didn't think the fix would bleach the film after development and my developer Paterson Aculux is still fresh.
