How many people actually put gaffer's tape on the red dot?

I do not -- I just send it out there naked to the world.

I do use gaffer's tape to cover the face of my Rolex, however, so nobody will know that I wear one. 😀

9/10 of the people could care less that you're carrying a Leica.

Watch them gasp in horror; run in the opposite direction or point and yell "You're invading my privacy" the moment you raise a "white" Canon lens mounted on a 1D MK II though.

The only people who care that you're carrying a Leica are people who are either camera geeks or other Leica owners.

Even with a Kiev-2A, people who are "versed" in photography will call Leica everything as long as it's old, shiny and classy 😉 I always say that it derives from the finest ever made camera, the Contax, that outmatched the Leica in these old times *giggles*

Depending on where you live or spend most of your awaking time, having a rolex prominently displayed on your wrist is no big deal.

I did the tape thing on my M6, it fell off, I replaced it. It's currently fallen off again. There is no red dot on my M2 so that's one less thing to worry about 😉
