Does anyone know the differences between the white box packaging and the silver/black packaging? Newer model? Same version?
Thanks

I think the white boxes were used from the early to late 90's, and the silver/black ones from then on. At least in the case of the Noctilux, both white and silver/black box lenses are the same version (last E60 version with built-in, sliding hood).

And these, in turn, should be the same version as the "last 100" Noctilux lenses, despite the lack of an exquisitely handcrafted humidor for packaging. :)

Most of the white box stuff is produced in Cuba, with a few from Ohio, and some occasional ones from the Malvinas.

Still good lenses and cameras.

You forgot to mention the silver-packaging versions, which are the lens made in Haiti at the orphanage run by the police department.*

*subtle(?) joke understood by FED owners.

Some of us are extracting the urine here.

Leica changed their packaging design a few years back.

End of story.
