Noctilux pricing

Right. So there's no need to update the prices of 'investments' with the end of every ebay auction, is there? ;)

WTF?

What do you really want, what's your point? Have you ever stopped to analyze your purpose?

Why are you so hurt by Leica while you're just buying used stuff? Does Leica owe you anything?

A mint 6 bit Noctilux E60 #3940490 with box, caps, case, B+W MRC UV/haze and Leica UVIR filters was sold $6,200(BIN).

I'm doing the price update for those who are in the market for a Noctilux, both buyers and sellers. This is not a stock or investment watch. Hopefully those who don't use their Noctilux often enough will be tempted to sell by their increasing high prices.

Can you make a post without all the personal attacks, Ned?

It's evidently considered "normal" on this forum to watch the price of Leica lenses as though they were being traded on the stock exchange. Which only goes to prove that Leica photography is becoming too much about "investments" and too little about picture taking.

That's my point. If you care to address that, please do. Leave the personal nonsense out of it.

If the Nocti prices continue to rise I will just sell it and buy a pre asph Summilux instead and use the rest of the money on something else.

Good point since most folks can`t even put the 1.4 to good use!
As I have mentioned in another thread, the noct seems to be so difficult to handle that the number of fotos worth mentioning seems to be extremely low!
Best regards Wolfhard

It's not a personal attack. You simply and really sound like a troll and it's irritating.

And I'm also questioning your ability to come to conclusions on Leica being about investments rather then photography. On what do you base your conclusion? on one or 2 internet forums? It's all so unscientific and yet you try so hard to make it sould like the truth. It's only trolling.
Sorry if you don't like it or if you think I'm getting personal by calling you a troll but it's what I understand from your posts.

Let's get real, you're really out of the game as far as the noctilux is concerned, so why bother at all?

enough.

before you joined this board ned, it really was a very enjoyable place to read people sharing opinions. there are a few users here who I dont care for and they have been easily blocked. You however insist on getting into these long protracted absolutely personal attacks on people so even if one blocks you, the poor reader still has to suffer through people quoting you.

it really is a shame.

the saddest part is that the photos you take are quite good, kinda wish I never connected the images with the attitude you have as the way you treat other peopel will forever color the work that you do. its simply unnecessary for an adult to conduct himself in this fashion.

Im sure everyone on this board would rush to give you the utterly irrelevant title of internet noctilux expert if they could be spared the fighting you hold onto ANY time anyone says virtually anything about the lens. You have one. You like it. We get it. Who cares? Enough.

There is no question in my mind that the only option available to you is to respond with some snyde, gotta get the last word dig in to me, but honestly, its played out, you do it to everyone else and it just doesnt mean anything anymore. I would "just ignore you" as Im sure you are about to suggest if it wasnt for the fact that every time you jab at someone it derails entire discussions and unquestionably deters others from participating. We all know your opinion, its the same rote and curt comments every time, please be so kind as to make room for some other people and their opinions which perhaps they are too busy or too tired or too bored to defend against you...

My only comment here is that you have single handedly ruined the experience of reading this board. It used to be a really civil place before any topic you participated in had to with stand the filter of your ego. There are effective ways to make a point and debate it and the way you have elected to conduct yourself here is just selfish. Have some consideration for other people. Or dont I guess.

woolen, it is remarkable that you're pointing out only Ned. I dont think that Kevin contributes far more enjoyment of reading. He simply said the same things thousands times when it comes to that cursed word. I usually consider guys trolls when they repeat very same things without trying pointing out other aspects of the same problem.

Why should we care about how much cost it, how much it sucks when it is about taking pictures as you said. In that regard, Ned is staying much higher on my list. Ned has showed his intention through his actions i,e, showing pictures. It is what all I care about for the most.

I can understand well that some people who live in English speaking countries, can overreact by the choice of words by Ned but I believe it depends more on language barrier than attitude. It is sad to see how some use their English to act at faaar superior way against other who couldnt communicate at either way.

That was mine (I paid $2000 for it used in 2004). Who says Leica isn't a good investment?

That's exactly what happened in my case. Until I read this thread 2 weeks ago, I still thought they went used for $3500. I use my 50 'Lux ASPH 95% of the time on the MP (or the 35 'Lux ASPH on the M8). The Noctilux is a double-gauss design with no aspheric elements, there is no reason Leica couldn't keep making it, very profitably, even if Elcan discontinued making a lens element. I suspect we will hear some news at Photokina, which will lead the price of used E58 and E60 Noctiluxes to crash.

It's not hard to handle, it's just that the long focus throw combined with the 1m minimum distance makes it slower to use than a 'Lux or 'Cron, and speed is vital in reportage style photography.

so right after you sold it at a good profit you are talking about price crash? to start with, you sold the lens as soon as you heard about the recent price surge....how nice Majid!! now the price will crash soon? soon after you profitted??

Nice attitude Majid!! doesn't it make you feel good?

The Nocti isnt all that hard to handle. Might be because I have used the 0.95 and 75 lux lots before, but I have never had a problem with the Nocti. The problem is that I always chose another lens cause the Nocti is so big. For some reason I think the 0.95 was easier to carry. Might because its shorter. In the end I 99% the time chose to carry around something lighter. I really digg the results of the Nocti. If I had a bunch of spare cash I would also just keep it just because, but since I need some other things and I dont use it that much it doesnt make much sense to hang on to it. Especially with the prices it fetches now.
I have bought a E46 pre asph now and the Nocti was in the customs in Germany for a couple of weeks, but Leica will start to work on it next week. I will sell it when I get it back...

I once compared the Noctilux 50/1.0 with the Canon 50/0.95 and the Nikkor 50mm/1.1. They were loaners. I went back to my Canon 50/1.2 without feeling that I was using some inferior lens.

Nocti

Nocti

I bought my Nocti new in 2001 I use it wide open photographing Jazz concerts. I love this lens it is my work horse I would not trade or sell this lens. I never realized that it became so rare and cause photographers to envy those who own the lens.
I enjoy the dialog it's funny to me. Nocti shooters keep enjoying what you have.;)
