Following on from the excellent thread of the 'look of three 50's' which has gone a long way to show the subtle visual differences between lenses.
If members are interested in seeing examples of a Nikkor 50 1.4 on a Nikon S3 2000, and Leica Noctilux (latest version) , Summilux (early E43 version) and a Nikon 50 1.2 AIS mounted on a M6. I can happily put together a set. All are shot wide open the subject mattter varies a little as does the film type (all people and low light) but all are b/w - some of the scans are from the negs themselves - (recent images) others from prints (earlier work).
Please let me know and i'll get on the case.

Most surely! I want to do a similar comparison (pre-asph 50 Summilux, Canon 50 f/1.2, CZ 50 1.5, J-3 --which I should be able to pay soon), but my M6 and Summilux will be on its way this week to DAG for some work (I want a tab for my 'lux).

Of course, anybody who is willing to sell/lend me a Canon 50 1.5 can contact me anytime 😉

Go for it, Simon!

This is such a great idea...I think that a sticky or a section for these things would be awesome...just photos and the data.

Thanks for taking the time to do this.

I agree with Chris. A permanent section at RFF with lens test images and data (without all the commentary perhaps) would be a great resource for the RFF site and would definitely attract more interest to this site (as if we need that).

Ok i'm on it! Please bear in mind that the images that will be posted weren't shot in test situations so no direct comparison is possible but they will show how i use them at full aperture in demanding lighting situations.
Should have them up in a few days.........

For my own interest, I just ran a test on Nokton, Canon 1.4/1.5/1.8 and J3, 2x J8, I61, I61l/d, I26. I suppose I had better put those up as well.

What is this? 50 testing season? I just ran off a 50mm test roll on Saturday comparing:

CV Nokton f1.5, Canon f1.8, Jupiter-8 F2, '70s Summicron-M f2, '70s Elmar f2.8.

It looks like you guys are interested, so if anything shows up in the tests I'll be sure to post the results here first!

Simon bought the S3-2000 kit, I'm guessing the later lens. It's supposedly an improved/multi-coated lens based on the 1964 Olympic 5cm f1.4 Nikkor. I have one reference showing that to be the same formula as the Canon 50mm F1.2 and F0.95.

RFF did have that on the hundreds of photos that had the lens and film information...until it got wiped out during one of the moves. That was invaluable information. We're getting it back with new uploads, but so much was lost. Ach vell.
