Just got a new X-T1 with the 23f1.4 and absolutely love the setup. Never expected it to be such a good portrait lens. But the lens seems a bit louder than I expected when it auto-focuses. And when I flip the lens into manual mode, it's still pretty noisy. Even in manual mode the autofocus motors seem to keep making fine adjustments as I rotate the focus ring. It sounds like there's a fly-by-wire system in there, where the manual ring doesn't physically move anything, but instead sends commands to the autofocus motors that in turn move the lens elements.
Does anyone know if this is how the lens works, and if those motors always need to be working? Seems pretty clunky, but maybe i'm just spoiled by manual focus rangefinder lenses.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

Yep.. All Fuji lenses are fly by wire manual focusing. Some have quieter af motors then others. For example the 18-55 zoom is dead quiet.

Cool. I'll learn to live with it now that I know my lens isn't broken. Thanks for the reply!
