Sean Reid posted the first part of his review of the Nokton 35/1.4. Looks like the new CV is quite a mediocre performer with considerable focus shift. Unlike the Ultron 35 and Nokton f1.2.

Personally, I love Chris Weeks. Awesome fellow. He speaks the truth.
I don't know what he is speaking about. Because he writes in a different language. But maybe I'm just getting old.
For sure he believes he is cool......... I don't.
retow,
You are not getting old because I am not old either. I don't think I have seen such infantile writing in my life, irrespective of age or educational background. In fact such a comment is rather unfair to children, who have even an ounce of, well, anything about them. There is more than a dose of ego behind it, I would say. Having had my second experience of his writing (I saw some before but forgot the name (funnily enough) and clicked on a link once again). for sure it will be my last.
As for speaking the truth. Plenty of others do so in a far less immature and abrasive fashion. Behind his words is also the suggestion that his persepctive is the only one and anyone approaching things from a different angle is a turgid idiot. For anyone who might suggest I am another stiff assed oldie Leicaphile, I am 30 and my Leica kit is with me in Afghanistan and NOT in a cabinet....

Chris Weeks was loaned the 35 1.4 by Mr. Gandy and did an actual in field test comparing it with a 35 'lux in all sorts of lighting conditions. He also makes fun of exactly what everyone is doing right now. 😉
Maybe. But I don't buy that. I've hired plenty of photographers in my day-job, and the number of ones you could count on to come back with the right photo is small. Plenty of people think they can do it; not many can.Yeah, you do have to give props, however location and opportunity have a roll to play in great pictures, many here (not me BTW) could shoot as well in similar situations. And skill/fame are no replacement for manners and proper disposition (god I never thought I'd ever say that 🙂 ) The exception to that is humor and informal spaces, I would talk like that to a friend at a bar, but not where a future client might read it. IMO
Chris certainly has a writing style about him.
What some may not be aware of is that Chris is an extremely successful Hollywood celebrity photographer with a library of over 2 MILLION images. He is also one of the very few staff AP photogs. In short, Chris is an excellent photog who knows the biz -- regardless of how you take his writing style.

Personally, I respect people who make a living out of photography - I don't look down my nose at them. If you're flavour of the month right now, you might now be in five years. Good on 'em, I say, even if they use rude words in their blogs.
