Non-pixelated M8 presentation

Turn-around for you, you were quite recently rubbishing the concept and likely performance of the M8. Your opinions count for nothing IMHO.

You lie, you lie ! garhasdfhgaadsf.... (melting...)

The whirring sound is the shutter on a long exposure.

This camera is everything I would have hoped for, at least externally. Now are there ANY IMAGES taken with one of these to look at? High ISO?

If the image from this camera is no better than the image from my 20D, then I'd say $5000 is a bit too steep of an asking price.

Surely Leica must had something up its sleve in the imaging technology department for their beloved flagship model? I sure hope so! We'll se....

Oh, there will be lots of mountains and blurry high contrast pics of people smoking, don't worry. ;)

I think the ultimate test would be to use it oneself.

If what I've read about people's DMR experiences, the image quality will be better that the 20D. However, as I've said at least half a dozen times here, there is more to a camera than image quality. Size, weight, ergonomics all are important factors for me. Not to mention that the M8 is a rangefinder and not an SLR--the crucial factor here. In any case, we'll soon put image quality questions to rest.

Regarding cost: I remember reading somewhere that $5000 for at M8 is about 33% more than an M3 cost. Converted into 1954 dollars, that would be $657. Does anyone have access to what an M3 actually sold for?

Why should be better than 20D? I mean there is no way it can be better, why? because canon has top sensors, because there has been no significent sensor evolution yet, because it has same R module sensor... no? :)

I know. I never heard anybody complaining about the Honda Goldwing not having four wheels and a roof just like a Hyundai Accent. For the same price, I mean, you should expect the same number of wheels, seats and doors, right?

Those who do, completely miss the point about having a motorcycle like that.

I am very interested in handheld`ing, generaly on digital with crop factor (slr) rule of mm = 1/shutter has to be doubled because small pixel size...

Sorry, not doubled, only 1,33x more.

Btw DMR images are even better than those from 1DsmkII as far as dynamic range and tonality, acutance is better due to lack of AA filter and overall they compete pretty well even for large prints. We are talking about 1,37x 10.5 Mp vs full frame 16.7 Mp.

But if you judge the quality of images only by the noise at 800 and 1600 ISO, well.. yes, Canon has top sensors.
Btw I'm not biased, as I have 1Ds with many L lenses plus a wonderful R-D1 with some CV and Leica ones.
