any non zoom lovers thinking about the fuji zoom?
the pics from it look pretty darn good...it's not all that big...and i'm not very good at waiting for the fast 56...(which i could always get when it does arrive).
the 60 looks good too but i'm not drawn to it strongly...for some reason, maybe the rep for very slow focus?

Fuji claims about the af speed improvement have been w/ the zoom, due to the new motor they are using. Based on the thread I just posted, the xe1 kit w/ zoom is a very hot seller, so much that they need to delay the ship of the 14f2.8 I have been waiting for

i saw that earlier this morning...bummer, indeed.
my 56 is likely going to be late as well.
i'm not sure if i can get a zoom in town, there were some but i wasn't interested then.

I can't say that I am due to the price... I'd rather buy primes for the price. If it was cheaper, I'd try it. I want the pancake more.

me too, normally...but the wait is killing me!
maybe i just need to take a deep breath and use the macro on my 35...

I love the 35mm so much that I haven't even wanted another lens that bad (since its a 50mm equiv). I have the X100 for my 35mm lens needs. The pancake I want only do to it being small and 42mm. The 14mm looks like a hell of a lens, but again too expensive for the amount I'll use it.

i'm quite satified with the 18 and 35, really nothing to complain about...i think i'm suffering from cabin fever...too damn cold to enjoy being out shooting!

Yes, the internet sucks in some ways because you are always looking for something else to buy.

Not me. I'm excited about the X-E1 as an alternative to my usual dSLR experience and am planning to stick to primes. Despite the reports praising the zoom if I have to buy the zoom to get the body, it will be for sale unused.

i don't normally like zooms either...maybe the 60 is a better bet for me now...or just quit thinking about buying something...

Joe, I can understand your impatience; I want the 23mm 1.4.
However, if you are looking for something longer, the 60mm is a pretty nice lens. I use it for work with good results. Also, regarding focus (lack of) speed, I posted this entry on how to speed it up.
Enjoy it when you get it.

Doesn't interest me at all, too big. Would defeat my primary reason for buying the camera in the first place.
I had the opportunity to briefly shoot the zoom, very impressed. Had no problem with the size, considering it has a 28/2.8 and an 85/4 inside. I would rather carry this one lens than carry the 18/2 and the 60/2.4.
The 35 and the zoom makes for a great two lens kit. A pancake would be icing.

I used to love a single all-purpose zoom but now I am strictly a prime person for the photography I take. I found zooming in on some items lost their context in the story too much. My Contax, Voigtländer and now Fujfilm cameras are now all primes. I will get the 60mm when I can but no interest in the new zoom lens.

I prefer the smallest, lightest setup.
I too am impatiently waiting for the 56 and 23 mm XF lenses. Meanwhile, I working on projects suited to the 35 and 18 mm primes.

Eye opening comparison here of the 18mm prime vs the zoom at 18mm.
