I recently acquired a Warner 66, a predecessor to the Norita 66. Well my Warner doesn’t have strap lugs as it was sold with a half case that had strap attachments so lugs were, at the time, unnecessary.

For piece of mind a jury-rigged something’s together including a Nintendo Wii remote strap in order to have a little sense of security from dropping this hunk of metal and glass as I walked around with the Warner hand held.

Well, I tried this earlier this week and after an hour my biceps were on fire and after an evening of shooting it felt like I had spent some serious time in the gym. Not looking forward to doing that again anytime soon.

I would like to find a half case so that I can use a neck strap. Not interested in using any of the tripod socket mounted strap options.

It looks like my only option is to have a case made? I have kept an eye on eBay et al and not found much, and by now the original cases are 40+ years old not sure they can be trusted to handle the heft of the mini-beast (Pentax 67 holds the beast title for me).

Any suggestions on other options or any idea whom I can contact to make a one off case?

Much appreciated
James

Any ideas?
I tried on the Norita group on Flickr and haven’t had much luck there either.

Failing getting a case with straps, I will have to get a bag with good shoulder straps and just take the camera out when I’m shooting.

1st world problems really...

There are couple of Norita 66 on eBay in Europe. Perhaps ask if they will split out the case?

Otherwise, maybe some stout leather, design a simple case and have it sewn by a friendly shoe mender?

What about those straps that attach to the tripod mount? I don't have one myself, but they has always seemed like a secure way to attach to the camera. It might even be better since the half case would have to be removed to load film. Plus the strap could be used on other cameras.

Great idea about the shoemaker will see if there is anyone nearby that would be willing to take it on. Will also message the sellers on eBay Europe if I can figure out how to get to ebay Europe.

I thought about the tripod socket straps but I would not be comfortable with this camera hanging upside down for long time. It is really heavy and don’t trust the tripod socket to handle the weight. I also have nightmares of the button to release the prism being pressed accidentally and the prism being smashed to smithereens.

Thanks for your replies
