Okay, I suppose you have to be a bit of a Jethro Tull fan to appreciate this. But I just discovered, while doing a casual Web search on some Anderson stuff, that (1) today is his birthday, and (2), he's rather into photography, particularly (wait for it...) with Leicas.

That's all. It's been a long day here...:)

:D Just got back from the Cropredy Festival where Fairport had Midge Ure on as a guest during their set - he announced that everyone else seemed to have been in Jethro Tull at some point, so it was about time he joined in, and they played "Living in the Past".

Best guest, though, was Robert Plant!

(Oh, I took my C3 for Argust 8th. There you go, got rangefinders into the post!)

I'll Stand Up and and admit that you don't have to be Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll, Too Young to Die to love the Tull.

Some people might think those of us using RF's are Living in the Past, but to them I say its a A Passion Play we keep Under Wraps.

Sitting on a park bench
eyeing little girls with bad intent.
Snot running down his nose
greasy fingers smearing shabby clothes.
Drying in the cold sun
Watching as the frilly panties run.

Wonder if he had a camera?

Whew...thanks, guys! For a little while here I thought I was on thin ice starting this thread. (Skating away, you know...)

Not surprising

Not surprising

Many great artists are blessed with talents in areas other than just the one they are famous for. Cat Stevens, John Lennon, and a few other musicians come to mind as people who have talent in music and art. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Ian's photographs were exceptional. Some people are just amazingly creative and have to let it out in several ways. Bob.

Jethro Tull was the first concert I ever attended - 1970, at the Westbury Music Fair, 2nd row. Their album Benefit was just released. I stopped listening to them after Thick As A Brick. I have a tremendous fondness for their early material and their first 3 albums. I remember seeing them on tv on Cass Eliot's show which name escapes me at this moment.

Trivia questions - what band did their original guitarist Mick Abrams go on to form?

And what famous guitarist sat in for only one gig?

Second question from Keith - it was Tony Iommi for the Rolling Stones Circus.

I was at Cropredy too and spotted a large brown camera case that had to be a rangefinder of some sort. So it was a C3 (I was too polite to ask!)

Who knew Tull fans could also be such awful punsters? You should all be ashamed of yourselves! I've been a Jethro Tull fan since I was 15 years old, and never knew that Ian's birthday was the day before mine (plus 21 years).

Or possibly it was just a large case, as everything was brown by the end of Saturday?;) Maybe it was a good job you didn't ask, I can be a little obsessive!

Yes, it was my Matchmatic - if I didn't make too bad a horlicks of guessing the exposure I'll be getting some pics on my Flickr account in a few days time. After all, Thursday was Argust 8th, and I don't really get it out often enough (fnarr fnarr)!

And there I was thinking the prize for each JT question was an M8...:D

Adrian - Carrying a (sorry) Nikon D200 at the Cropredy Festival meant that I would have been ashamed to talk to anyone carrying a proper camera anyway. Mind you, if you think you can be obsessive about cameras...

Cheers, Mark

I guess RFF is proof that we're all a little obsessive about cameras...

I must admit, given Cropredy's slightly eccentric reputation, that I thought I'd see more odd cameras (a la a Shuttleworth Collection airshow - where I spotted three transvestites of a certain age with Pentacons, someone wielding a Stereo Edixa, and a homemade stereo SLR outfit...), though I did have a chat with a chap with a Nikon FM - shooting 200 slide film rated at 800. Which is when I had a "I know diddley-squat about photography" moment...

Have you got all the mud out yet?

Adrian
