Please add to this thread the names of notable photographers who passed away in 2020. If possible include a link to their work, a brief description of what they were known for, and links to any obits/reviews for further reference.

The first photographer that comes to mind is Chris Killip.

Chris Killip (11 July 1946 – 13 October 2020) is best known for his work capturing human dignity amid industrial decline in England in the 1970s and 80s. His series In Flagrante and book of the same name captured the industrial north-east of England between 1973 and 1985. The Guardian's obit gives a good overview of his life. There's an interview with Chris Killip on the Martin Parr Foundation site where Chris talks about his working process. Parr regards Killip as one of the greats of British photography.

John Loengard also left us in May...he was famous for his Beatles in the pool shot and the pic of a nefarious looking silhouette of Bill Cosby enjoying a relaxing cigar after one of his escapades.

Thank you so much for mentioning this name Lynn. I didn't know him, but I've done a research on the chap. I happen to have lived in the North East in the mid 70s maybe 30 miles south of Skinningrove, but never heard of it. His photos remind me of what the area was like at the time.

Acclaimed Edinburgh post-war street photographer Dr Robert Blomfield passed away this month aged 82. An exhibition of his Edinburgh street photographs appeared in Edinburgh Art Centre in 2019.

Baron Wolman - if you love and remember California rock and roll from the 60's you've almost certainly seen his pictures.

Lynn- thanks for mentioning Killips. I didn’t know of him. I checked him out and really like his work. I’d love to find his publication “The Last Ships”.
