I do not often get stuck for words, but in this case I cannot put my hand on how to describe the look of the 23/2 lens on the X100. Apart from fov etc it has a feel and look that I like a lot, do not get me wrong I love the images that my18/2 produces on my X Pro 1, but the 23/2 has a feel a lot less 'clinical' than my 18/2. Told you I was stuck for words, all I'm really trying to say is I like the lens signature of x100

I do understand you.
But you must restore borrowed items, don't you know?

did I say borrowed, well no longer borrowed, (thanks Simon), it now sits along side my other Fuji and they look great next to each other and will complement each other in years to come

I find the 18mm f/2 anything but clinical... that's what's wonderful about the Fujis... they aren't clinical, even when sharp as f***.

depends on your definition of clinical

Mike, I think you have it bad. An X-Pro1 and an X100 in just a few weeks?

I know, funded by selling nearly all of my other cameras,(which were sitting in a display cabinet), in the last few weeks I have shot more images than I have in the last year, I know Fuji are not everyone's cup of tea but they more than suit my needs, I certainly do have it bad. Even have a cat avatar now

I completely understand - my X100s has me seriously considering selling off my NEX-7 and N1V1 to help fund an X-Pro1 with 35 and 56. I had forgotten how much I prefer an OVF, and having the hybrid EVF is just icing on the cake.

Well-known
I also have an XP1 and an X100. The X100 is a very, very good camera, more so with the last set of firmware updates, and a steal at current prices. Fuji have done a lot right and appear to be continuing to do so. I'm sure you'll have fun but may find the Fuji bug attacking your wallet

yes really like the ovf, always found brightlines appealing, now putting my GF2 with 14mm up for sale

i know what you mean about the x100…it seems to produce a 'smoother' image than the other fuji lenses…not better or worse but different.
but the biggest difference is the shooting experience, for me anyway.
with the x100 it is a more fluid experience, very close to the rf experience…though i find using the xe1 a very near rf experience also.
i had to sell my x100 to get other fuji gear (and pay bills) and though i regretted it a bit at the time, i am glad now that i did it.
i love the xe1 and 23/56 combo and using the 16-50 as a 16 slow prime…24/35/85…is a shooting kit that i first fell in love with way back when zooms were not so good and it has re-charged me!

I'm quite happy with what I have at the moment, and I certainly have the fuji bug, money is very tight, so I've funded my Fuji spree by selling 99% of my analogue kit. The 18 and 23 cover most of my needs and the funds are now dry

Congratulations. Enjoy your kit.

There was a smoothness to it that I absolutely loved, how it was tack sharp but fell out of focus quite nicely. And the sensor was a dream. I seriously considered selling off my Nikon kit for the Xpro.
Personally I always had trouble with AF and kept with RF, but I never fail to recommend the X system to friends.

what?
I have those same feelings about the X100 lens. People ask me, and I simply can't make up the words right.
"smooth but sharp"?
"clear but creamy"?
"no sharp edges, but great clarity"?
All sound like contradictions.
Wonderful lens for sure.
