To accommodate a guest from down under we are scheduling our annual event for sometime in January instead of sometime in February.

Anyways this will be the seventh year of basically another camera "Beauty Pagent," "Camera Convention," "Gearfest,"...

Let the nonsense begin. Remember that this is a bare knuckles competion where the only rule is basically: "No biting." LOL.

I guess it's time to make my custom made skin for the Df...

John,

I dug up some of that Italian Goat Leather. Recently I been burrowing into my storage and I brought it home for primarily Bob, but if you want some let me know.

Glam up those DF's and annoy people I say. Anyways annoying people is my style. LOL.

Thanks Cal. Yes, my childhood friend Pete Yeh (Pyeh), who I have not seen in 35 years, will be visiting NYC from Australia, and he wants to meet the NY bunch and see the "Beauty Pageant". Pretty amazing that we "found" each other on RFF. Could we target 17 January 2016?

This sounds good I'm game, I sure I'll find something between now and then
to have for the beauty pageant, any of you guy's need help putting new
leather on let me know.

That would be great

That would be great

Thank you everyone for accommodating me in January. It's very good of you to reschedule the beauty pageant from February to January. I hope it doesn't put anyone out, especially those who come from outside NY.
As J-Marc said, I told him that I'd really like to meet you guys, since I follow the NYC meet-up threads all the time because they're such fun to read.
To see Cal's outrageous gear, and everyone else's, would be just great.
I'm really looking forward to my visit, and catching up with JM for the first time since 1983, and to meeting you guys.
Thanks be to Gandy for the wonderful mechanism of RFF world wide connectivity, without which JM and I would not have reconnected!

January pushes the deadline forward a bit. Planning needs to start early for building projects. I just ordered some stock aluminum to get busy with. No time to waste...

Pete,

Like camera:like owner. LOL.

Pretty much this event is over-the-top, where we really make fun of ourselves and camera culture.

I think we need to add a "Free" camera cat-O-gory as they say in Brooklyn. Basically I got a "Free" Nikon D3X from "Maggie" to shoot for her blog. Can anyone top that?

Almost as good as a 24 inch wide Epson 7800 that only made 1802 prints over its 9 year life before I got it for a meager $100.00. Because it weighs 131 pounds and is almost 4 feet long, I'm not bringing the printer to the event. LOL. Anyways this is my entrant for the "Almost Free" cat-A-gory as they say in northern Madhattan.

Big rule here is that acquistion has to be in the prior year.

I have remorse; I shoulda got that free 48 inch Epson 9880 that was listed on Craigslist for free pick-up at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Christian sent me the link.

Anyways this is the seventh consecutive year celebrating camera madness. "Still crazy after all these years." LOL.

Jean-Marc,

The date is set. January 17, 2016. Is that a Sunday?

Cal

Cal,
Mucho gracias. Yes, 17 Jan 2016 is a Sunday, and that's the date that Pete and his wife will be in town! Hopefully Puck Fair will still around.

Jean-Marc,

The coldest week of the year is the first week in January, and this is an unlikely time to begin demolition to build expensive luxury condos for the wealthy. Generally developers, contractors, and construction crews like to tear down buildings in nicer weather when the dust adds to the pollution here in NYC and people are outside.

Trying to think logically... LOL.

Cal, different topic....the heliopan filter that you showed me the last time, the one that says "digital" and cuts off the UV/IR bands, is that a yellow filter? I couldn't find it. Thanks, Jean-Marc

Jean-Marc,

The filter is a 2X yellow (grade 5). The "Digital" marking is what signafies the additional UV and IR filtering that is also included.

The Heliopan filters are available at B&H and Adorama, but the information on their websites does not show or indicate any distiction. At B&H many times the item is in a Brooklyn warehouse. I like to personally verify the "Digital" marking before I purchase to avoid any need to return. My first choice to buy would be Adorama because generally they have the item stocked.

All these years there has been all this talk about these Hello Kitty cameras.

In a Calzone manner as usual I find gear out in the street thrown out as garbage. I was walking Baby-Dog AKA Beagle-Face and I see this piece of Hello Kitty ribbon that is kind perfect to make a camera strap or wrist strap blowing around on the sidewalk that some kid probably dropped. How cool would it be to have a Hello Kitty strap if you can't afford the rare Leica limited edition.

Somehow I need to make something by January. I know that John has a strap fetish so I think he will like it.

I finally secured a Fujica 100/3.5 in chrome (early-early lens) that I will send to Frank Marshman as a donor lens so that the 100/3.5 AE with the EBC glas can be mounted in a manual focus barrel to take advantage of the multicoating.

Frank presently also has a clean Fujica 150/5.6 on his bench that has a wonky shutter to repair, so all in all soon he will have three of my lenses to create two. Evidently the minty 100/3.5 AE that I secured has a dead CdS cell and is unrepairable. That's okay because I bought it cheap and the dead cell did not come as a surprise because the dealer was upfront about it.

For the 2016 Olympics I'll be assembling my pair of Texas Leicas: a GL690 and a GM670 with a 65/8.0 Super Augulon, black 100/3.5 Tessar single coat, chrome 100 3.5 Tessar EBC multicoated, and 150/5.6 Sonar. Understand the only multicoated lens that Fuji made for these cameras was the 100/3.5 AE, and I recycled the optics into a manual focus barrel to create a custom lens.

With only three lenses I'm able to share between two bodies of different formats I get basically 6 different FOV's although this kit is big. Understand that some of these lenses are kinda rare.
