After years of hunting I found another Nikon MF-18 Databack for my F3 Prada. Funny thing is I found my first MF-18 about 2-3 years ago and I haven't seen any others available until today. This data back records the date inbetween frames and adds a thumb grip.
I have been looking for a second MF-18 since I recovered this F3 HP that I recovered in mucho soft Italian goat leather. Although this back has a tab that intergrates into a MD-4 motordrive for the film stop it gets covered by the added aftermarket grip and an AH-4 hand strap.
I'm a stubborn guy, I tell you. LOL. I wish all my film cameras recorded the date inbetween frames. Kinda works like a visual journal. This is the reason why our annual event is a great thing to build up great cameras.

Cal and Jean Marc, I can be a guest from Asia or Australia. I don't mind, I'm both, but it's good of JMQ to point it out. Although, English is the only language I speak, much to the consternation of other Asians.

Even stranger is ethnically I am Cantonese, but I only speak English and Spanish.
My dad only spoke Cantonese, but his yelling I kinda understood anyway. LOL. Funny thing is my dad could say in perfect English, "Cut your hair." My long hair really annoyed him because back in the 70's the Chinese gangs like the "Ghost Shadows" and the "Flying Dragons" wore long hair.

CNNY, I'll try and bring some XXXX beer. It's got more character then Fosters but it's not that delicious IMveryHO. In any case, if it's served as cold as we like to in Aus, you can't taste much anyway. It used to be the joke 'round here that XXXX, being from Queensland, was so named because Queenslander's couldn't spell "beer".
Cal, my mother is 2nd generation born in Australia, and she can't speak Chinese either, although she learnt French and German in school and enjoys using it abroad. My grandmother couldn't speak it either, which must have been a classic assimilation ploy. I figure since language is learnt from one's mother that I had no chance, even though I was born and raised in Singapore where there are 4 official languages.

In JM's and my O-Level exams (very important Year 10 exams) I am pleased to say I achieved the lowest fail grade (there were 3 grades of Fail) in Chinese. I must have been bottom of the whole year of 462 students.

GEAR ALERT: Last night I bought a Nikon AH-4 Handstrap at B&H to dress up the Nikon F3 HP that I recovered in mucho soft Italian goat leather. This Friday I expect delivery of a MF-18 which is kinda rare (I own 2) that imprints the date inbetween the frames. Basically I wish all my film cameras did this. Anyways this F3 is getting "Monsterized" to the point that it does not resemble a Nikon F3 HP anymore. Believe it or not it resembles a more modern black Nikon DF like John's. LOL.
BTW know that this camera also features the only aftermarket grip that I ever saw that somehow I luckily found in the RFF classifieds. I know the F3 already had an intergrated grip built in, but I have a secondary one.
As an Accidental Fashion Photographer I figure that I also have to develop a fashion camera, and since I'm a skinny bitch who looks great in Paul Smith clothes and Paul Smith has an affiliation with Leica that I will dress up my Leica IIIG to make some over the top retro statement. Too bad I didn't think of this earlier because November 12th we are attending some big fashion event in Tribeca that we attended last year. Oh-Well. BTW Paul Smith was an avid cyclist and only became a designer after he got pancaked by a car and was almost killed.

Paul Smith also is one designer who has his fabrics made for him, many of them made in Italy. I own a pair of Paul Smith shoes that are made in Italy that I consider works of art. Mucho expensive.
I think one reason I love Paul Smith clothes is because he tailors his clothes for skinny bitches like me that are built for bike racing meaning skinny guys that have muscular builds. The tailoring are for guys that have "8 inch drops" meaning an eight inch difference between waist and chest, and he even has some suits designed for "9 inch drops."
A while back I took a menswear class at FIT, and my professor knew I was a big fan of Paul Smith told me to wear my Paul Smith suit to the last class. Kinda interesting and powerful dressing up like a male model and using NYC streets as my runway. I took notice that the crowds in Madhattan and on the subway gave me more space as if they didn't want to rink-L my clothes. LOL.
Also I kinda felt powerful. It was as if I could pull out a gun and murder someone while a cop stood by who might say, "That was a good shot." LOL. In class this beautiful girl with these smokey eyes said, "You look like an Asian version of James Bond." LOL.
Funny thing is that the clothes fit so well and are so comfortable is that it almost feels like you are walking around naked.
When I went suit shopping for "Maggie's" daughter's wedding I found that many designers start their menswear sizes at size 40, and I'm a size 38. I only found two designers that made clothes that fit. Prada and Paul Smith.

It seems that after all this talk that it comes down to embracing Paul Smith luxury and Hello Kitty for it's childish appeal.
There's a Paul Smith outlet in Williamsburg that I need to go to to secure perhaps a silk tie that either offers a unique Paul Smith print or maybe the rainbow stripping that often is used on the insides of cuffs or as pipe-ing on liners.
I got that Nikon MF-18 delivered yesterday at work. I rigged my F3HP and it is kinda unrecognizable as a F3 and strongly resembles a black DF that is a bit oversized. I mounted my AF-D 28/1.4 and the rig feels like a lead brick it feels so solid. Kinda like my spin is to create a "Film DF." How's that for being twisted and having style.
Now I know someone is going to complain that my "Film DF" does not do video. LOL. Also that it is kinda bulky and big (kinda true); and that perhaps I didn't make it more like a film camera. LOL. The thickness of the added MF-18 adds a digital proportion to the camera. My F3HP is no "skinny puppy." To honor my rescue dog I'm naming my camera "The Evil Beagle."
BTW I think the DF has mucho style. I like that it annoys people. LOL.

I know, but some people complained about it which I think is funny.
I think the DF is a very cool camera, especially since there are so many haters. This polorization, the let down, and the disappointment cause such a stir and because the feelings were so strongly projected I think of the DF as an art camera.
One way to be an artist is just do the opposite of what everyone else is doing. Just understand that this annoys people. The DF is a controversal camera and mighty annoying to many. LOL.

I love it... and you know I don't care what others think of my camera. I'm sure I'm annoying in many ways... I have my shortcomings as well. So, I guess the Df matches me. 🙂
