But did you make any money?
If I dig a bit I should have a couple of Louis shots somewhere.
I'm thinking that all of the sudden this is becoming like an episode of "Shark Tank." LOL.
Basically I never really made any money, even though I have sold some of my work (paintings). As a business I loose money, but that is not why I do photography.

I have a shot of Louis sleeping on the 6 train with his camera in hand...
John,
I want to see that shot.
Louis has this riff where he only allows you to take one shot of him upon any chance meeting, but for me that is usually a three round burst. LOL.
GEAR ALERT: I'm getting back from Frank Marshman my Fuji GM670 along with a fresh but rare 150/5.6 that is a Sonnar formula. I'll be paring it with my GL690 with my custom 100/3.5 that is a chrome manual lense with the EBC multicoated glass from a 100/3.5 AE. I also have the 65/8.0 so I'll be champaining a Tex-Ass Leica three lens kit that offers 6 FOV's. Also know that I still have a regular 100/3.5 Tessar that offers a retro single coated look.

I'll bring the Nikon D3 I'm working on I received it yesterday, anybody know
how to remove gaffer/duck tape from the rubber??, also did you set a date yet?.
I want to put in the date early at my job. I'm also taken the D3 to work today
give it a work out.
Bob,
There is this citris cleaner that you can get at the container store that works wonders on residual adhesives, but I used alcohol preps from work that are basically free.
I love my D3X. Basically it is a monster right out of the box. The D3 is a very serious pro camera designed for mucho heavy use. Feels like a brick in you hand. LOL.

I'll dig it out. It's probably from before I even knew you guys. I had certainly never met him before when I made the photo.
Louis let me make 2 of him but he only was ok with it because I moved in closer and did it quickly.

John,
If you get the chance go to the 6th floor of Sotheby's to see 77 images out of 83. Basically Robert Franks: The Americans that were printed in the 60's and 70's. The prints have a more modern look to them, are higher contrast, and some are cropped differently.
You have until Thursday December 17th. The Auction of this collection is at 6:00 PM on Thursday December 17th.
Very-very worthwhile to see, especially if you saw the exhibition at the MET.

I don't think I'll be making it this year again guys,
I'm already having some conflicts with my schedule and haven't nailed down accommodations yet.
Good news is, I'll be starting a new job on the New Year (fingers crossed)
I'm also working on some goodies to send Cal for prizes, expect a message from me later this week bud! I may have to send my camera in for someone else to compete for me

Deven,
You will be with us in spirit. Good luck with the new job.
In fact I need a new job too. I'm in a rut that is killing me. One of the reasons I express myself in an over the top manner here on this forum is because I'm oppressed at work and anyone who is an individual just gets brutalized by rigid folk that have no personalities. Basically I work with robots not people. At least I know it is not the real world.

I've seen these numerous times over the years. Wish I had known over the last two days when I was off from work. Oh well, I won't be able to catch it before the 17th.

FULL DISCLOUSURE: The $100.00 DSI Gold Metal cost me nothing because I took advantage of several offers, where in one offer I got $1000.00 worth of printing for only $500.00, and in two separate offers I took advantage of spending $500.00 get $750.00 worth of printing. I surely got my money's worth of bonus free printing.
Also know that although I'm primarily a B&W shooter and only an "ax-Sid-dent-AL" color fashion photographer, that DSI offers color printing. At PhotoPlusExpo this year the large prints displayed at the Leica booth this year were printed by Digital Silver Imaging.
I'm thinking this prize should go to someone who has either the coolest camera that is likely to make an image of high quality to need such a premium service, or to someone that has a killer image that needs to be printed at this elevated level. So far I'm thinking that Christian's home built wide angle large format camera is a clear favorite so far.

Cal,
That 'prize winner' is currently some bars of stock aluminum, and an unused new dremel. I haven't made the time to dig into this one yet.

Thanks Cal, I took a few pic's around Lincoln Center yesterday it may be
a monster but it's lighter than the EOS 1ds I have. I did download a few of
the pic's and there great looking files even took a few at 800-1000 which
I never do on digital and there nice, it goes to show you that the later
camera's are a lot cleaner looking than the early one well, it might be
goodbye time to the Canon and lenses.

Bob,
For me around 800 ISO is the upper limit. The thing with the D3 is forcefully pulling it against your face. There is this joke, if you want to loose 12 pounds just chop off your head. It seems unifying the camera with the ballist of your head really adds a lot of sharpness to the files. My D3X is 24 MP so for the best files I need higher shutter speeds. The colors from my D3 are very rich.

I notice that I could handhold the camera a bit better because of the weight it does
work nice, I also picked up a mode dial which should do the trick.

John,
Do you have the Nikkor 35mm f1.8 for your DF, how is it?

I don't anymore, but it's a very good lens. No complaints when I had it.

Yeah, but my experience is generally short term and not very scientific. It's either good or bad. Or good, but not fun. etc.

John,
It does seem like you will try anything and everything. Regardless I have seen you grow as a photographer over the years. I really appreciate how you will try almost anything even if its just for a day or a week. LOL.

I just can't take it all so seriously...it's all fun to me. I always manage to find something that sticks for a year or two at a time though. The rest is just experimenting. You never know when a certain tool can make you think a little differently.
