Oh but of course. I'll bump Keiths thread about his group show at 1 Cenre Street. I'll be meeting up with John at 5:00 PM. Make sure you RSVP because its a government building just north of City Hall.
After this show we are going to go shoot Fashion Night Out and scope out all the parties, events and displays.
GEAR ALERT: I finally broke down an bought a 28 Cron ASPH. I'll be shooting it tonight.

I'm spoiled already. The 28 Cron ASPH and 75 Lux is a perfect pair.
BTW I bought a $359.00 Leica scalloped hood that looks just plain evil on my pimped out M6.

They keep fashion week locked up pretty tight. I had an assignment to cover the last fashion week in Bryant Park last year. It was definitely an experience. Luckily I didn't have to photograph every outfit on the runway or the runway at all. It was more of getting the cene and the feel of fashion week.

Photographing fashion week is a hellish experience. They keep you locked up in a roped off area between shows. No chairs, if you want to sit, it's the floor. And there are a lot of people cramped together. Because on top of traditional media newspapers/fashions mags/wire services, you know how a ton of bloggers covering the event. The bleachers at the end of the runway designated for photographers are filled with bloggers carrying digital rebels and Nikon D40's. More than once I saw someone standing there just to watch. And there's no reserved seating, when the show starts you pile in and try to grab the best vantage point you can. You spend ten minutes in some contorted position sweating hoping that the show is almost over. To photograph the celebrity filled floor is a whole other ordeal, you need to be on the designers access list to go beyond the photo bleachers.

Ken,
That's great stuff. Thanks for taking us behind the scene.
I know its not easy because I use to do TV broadcast journalism (news). Fashion week in Bryant Park seems like covering a major news story, but the event lasts a week.
Tonight's Fashion Night Out is really just a stroll.

We are just going to crash all the parties, demos and the spectical of this event where beauty and exhibitionism is combined. Celebs, models, the famous... I guess we will find out.
Lord and Taylor basically has a different party on each of its ten floors... Window displays with live models... Last year they had models tutoring and instructing regular people how to walk a runway.
I'm thinking being able to shoot can present all kinds of opportunities. I'm going to use my new 28 and shoot as if I were on the street, except I'll be inside high end stores and boutiques with my Leica.

The sun came out.
Humidity went from 100% to zero. Looks like the rain might be behind us.

I went to see the movie "Senna" last night at Lincoln Center. Great film, particularly if you like F1.
Lincoln Center was hopping, Mercedes Benz has a temp structure on the plaza.
Security was very tight but the people watching was great. I came straight from work and didn't have a camera...
I ended up across the street at Epicurie Boulud and had a hot dog and a beer.
