Just a heads up that this Thursday February 27th is the opening for Amy Arbus will be at the Leica Gallery 6-8 PM. "On The Street" is basically work that was created 1980-1990 for capturing NYC fashion via street portraits and street photography when the Village Voice cost $0.75 and wasn't a free newspaper.

Which Sunday in March this month?

Doubt I'll be able to make it to your next meet up, but I will be up in your city middle of next week for Armory Show & associated festivities. Anyone who wants to meet up can shoot me a PM.

I'm all rigged out to start carrying 3 rigged Leicas. I figured out that this never-ready case can be used like a pocket to hold one of my Rapidwinder M's with the second Rapidwindr M strapped to my hand. The MD-2 with the 21 SEM will be worn bandeliar style via the leather neck strap recycled from my Monochrom.

The Plaubel should see mucho use because I'll be pairing it with the MD-2 to shoot ultra-wide and get good at seeing that FOV.

I also intend on using that 21 SEM on the Monochrom shooting vertically, but with the intent of cropping to effectively shoot the square and have perspective control. Effectively this will be like having a digital Rollie-Wide with perspective control.

Know that I have been actively training and I have the goal to hit my fighting weight of 147 pounds (Welterweight), I already have a 9 inch drop between my chest and waist, and because of interval training my resting pulse at times dips into the low 40's. Know that photography as a lifestyle for me now involves physical training. Also know that carrying 10 pounds around while walking burns an extra 100 calories per hour.

Gear alert:
After playing with Tung's Noct-Nikkor on Sunday, I had to scratch the itch of a superspeed lens for my D3. I picked up a 50mm f/1.2 Ai from Keh graded Bgn with a 3.5cm f/2.8 screw-on metal hood. The lens just arrived a while ago and it is in fantastic shape. One single speck of dust is all that is "wrong" with this impressive piece of glass.

Tomorrow will be our first day above freezing in a few days then the temps drop down and we get some snow so I'll be out shooting as much as I can with the new lens.

Apropos of a different topic: does anyone in the group have a mini-softie they'd like to sell? I want to acquire one for my Canon P/Canon 7; the larger softie interferes with the shutter collar, which has to be rotated for rewind/advance. Lost my large softie during the day of your meet when I had to rewind film. And yes, while I love those Canons their releases really benefit from a softie, particularly the 7's.
 
Cal, I always love reading your posts because you put so much adventure into your approach to photography -- gearing up, training, cameras called Punky, fully rigged cameras -- it's like Photo Terminator Warrior -- Camera Fight Club 🙂 I'm ready to buy a camera strap with spikes!
