New York NYC March Meet-Up

No Leica's for a Duck tape design all well then.

Bob

I've covered most things that one uses in daily life (and some other things) in duct tape in the last 25 years. I've found that it gets kind of slick and when the weather gets hot & humid, it gets nasty. Sticky; kind of gooey.

Gaff tape, that is a much better material.

Or some of the military-use 1000 mile per hour tape that is used on aircraft. That stuff is amazing.

Interesting tape:

But, is it something you want to put on a camera?

Sure!

Auto parts stores carry "chrome tape" which is a civilian version of the speed tape but it isn't nearly as durable. I have a roll. Its quite shiny and I use it for repairing reflective surfaces inside the light housings on cars. It really brings a 35w brake lamp back to life!
It is the opposite of grippy though but for the sake of bling, I doubt one could get more ostentatious. It would turn a Nikon F3 with MD4 into a medieval bludgeon of some sort. Almost sickening in a way but still awesome.

Steve,

Back in the day, I drove a 1980 Checker Limo which is like the cab we all know that is basically a car built on top of a Chevy pickup chassis. The Checker limo was a very limited production vehicle and perhaps only a few hundred were ever made. The wheelbase was a foot longer than a Checker cab, the jump seats where bench style, and my limo had nine passenger seating capacity.

Now imagine a supersized extra long Checker cab with a garish giant chrome grill, dark blue paint, a black vinyl top and opera windows. This was not a custom car and came from the manufacturer rigged as such. The limo was kinda fugly, but it also turned heads because it was so strange and unusual. I miss this beast and this was one of my favorite "art cars." What fuction does a vinyl top or opera window perform except to add personality, be loud, or provoke and annoy people?

Recently I ordered this structural metal filled epoxy called A4 Metalset. Basically this is a Mil-Spec adhesive that is used to seal and structurally glue an airplane together. Funny thing is that one part of this two part epoxy smells exactly like peanut butter. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.

Back on topic: I know that my grips annoys John. LOL.

Went down to the city today, went to B&H and looked around and sold a camera, thought it
was going to be a bad picture day but no!, at Grand Central Terminal it was Japan day and I took
a few shots of a Samurai, not a bad day. It's the whole weekend if anyone's interested.

Bob

P.S. The Samurai suit is about 300 years old

Ive made my own, didnt come out as well though... Do a search for homemade sugru, or epoxy.. based on corn starch and caulk, I think..

My newest garbage picking find is a 2 kilo to 5 pound "Ohaus" balance that I'm recycling from work that was being thrown out.

Funny thing is about 15 years ago I salvage a complete boxed set of brass weights that is required to exploit today's find. Now I have the proper app-R-Rat-US. to weigh out my chemicals to make my own ADOX for developing Kodak 5222.

I'm either a very lucky guy or it is divine intervention.
