Doing crazy things is very different than being crazy. LOL.

Anyways it seems that I have more than my fare share of good luck. My dill- lem-A right now is to find something to obsess about. Truth be told if I won the lottery I would not buy another camera or lens, and I've accumulated the dream kit I always wanted to build to cover small and medium format.

All I have to do is get the 75mm frames stripped out of my black paint MP and send my 50 Rigid to Focal Point to get cleaned and the front element re-coated. Done. New favorite lens for the Monochrom is Tung's 35 Lux ASPH Pre-FLE.

No scanning for me (Monochrom), but if someone gives me one or I find one under the 59th Street Bridge I will surely pass on my good fortune to you.

Call me a purest, but film is for wet printing, and I cant see me ever scanning even if the Nikon is a great scanner.

Cal, if you happen to find two nikon scanners, I'll take the second one. Actually, if they really are under the 59th street bridge, I'll go down and look for them myself.
 
Maybe we should all go dumpster diving in New Jersey in back of Hasselblad's and Leica's repair locations.
Who knows what they consider worthless.
 
Since Calumet Camera has closed all it's stores in the United States, there may be more dumpsters to check out as well. I once found a whole pallet of tempera paint that Peral Paint and Art Supplies was giving away because it closed one of its retail stores.
 
That is a perfect task for our NJ members. Even better; if we could convince someone at hasselblad and leica to post here before throwing anything out.
 
That's to bad about Calumet, I got my first Lighting system from Tom he gave me a great
deal on it, come to think of it I got my Mint Leica 35mmf2 Summicron version4 as well.

I live at 101st Street and Lexington. I only found out about the event at work when Tung e-mailed me to see if "Maggie" and I were ok.

I find myself tearful and sad because I am mstill deeply reminded of September 11th.

Steve,

When shooting with John we found 5 cases of NYC branded condoms abandoned on a loading dock on the West-Side. You can't make this stuff up.

Another time on the Upper East Side I found this really cool retro slide projector. I discovered that the on/off switch was intermittent and replaced it with a mil-spec switch I had from when I downsized an Aerospace company.

I got mucho strange looks carrying a man-A-Can on the subway that I also found in the UES.

I also found a brand new Targus laptop knapsack that still had the tags on it. I figure that someone likely just got mugged for their laptop and the robber dumped the brand new Targus laptop Knapsack.

I found a 30 pound dumbell near work, and I ended up recycling it to John because I already had a pair of 30 pounders.

I am a neutered puppy (Vasectomy) so I have no need for any condoms, but I wanted to create a photo opportunity with that amount of condoms. I'm sure I could of made a huge mess. John did not want to participate.

By-the-way would you trust condoms that you found?

GEAR ALERT: Today's lucky find is a brand new grey "Gennuine Pelican Case" that is about the right size for a carry on luggage that features a wheelie towing mechanism and get this it has a total of three grips if you count the one for the wheelie.

This item is brand new, and I even have the original brown cardboard box. For some strange reason my boss is being nice to me and gave it to me, even though he says, I'm evil. WTF? Anyways perhaps I should stop calling him "Howard the Hem-A-Roid" because usually he is just a pain in my butt.

My reputation for being a garbage picker now means that I don't have to even search for good stuff, and now people just bring items to me.

Should I keep the box/packaging just in case I want to sell?

PS: There's a very cool "Domke" like insert that looks like I can compartmentalize this case for my big kit. Not sure if everything can fit. LOL.

First, OUCH!

Second, only trust Trojan brand condoms. The cheap ones the health clinics hand out are crap. (Not in any way affiliated with Trojan, Inc.)

Third, is the meetup still scheduled for this Sunday? And at Puck Fair?

Cal, there are so many interesting comments from you in this thread that I would be behind for my class tonight if I tried to comment on it all!
