New York NYC September 2012 Meet-up?

Cal, have you already ordered the monochrome?

Yep. I was number 16 on the list a few weeks ago. About one M9M comes into my dealer a week.

Laid out a $1K non refundable deposit. Not sure how the recent release of the new M and ME might bump me up the waiting list due to a possible change of heart of people who are ahead of me. Anyways expected delivery is perhaps sometime in November. More and more it seems that Leica profiled a slacker like me to design the ideal digital dream camera for a guy who is as lazy (meaning practical) as me. LOL.

I intend to take advantage of an Apple promotion of Zero APR for one year to buy a new computer. Ahead lays a very steep learning curve learning digital.

BTW the effect of shooting slow slide film with flash at night has a particular look I really like: strong contrast and bright intense colors. The Pentax 67II TTL metering made my rig into a great (granted gigantic) focus and shoot. I learned that somehow I might be knowing what I've done, if I didn't confuse you. Anyways I like the results so much that I want to shoot color this way again.

As usual I'm in a state of confusion. I thought you mentioned that you wanted another 35/1.8 in LTM to use as a user because you already have a rather minty copy.

Cal

Hi Cal,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes,mine is in pretty good condition with a much serial number box. But cannot say mine is the minty copy.

And I hope I can join your guys meeting on 29th. : )

Kevin,

Mine is an extreamly clean user that has been CLA'ed. If it only focused closer...

That's great! Is there any film works taken with this lens? By the way,I just bought a Nikon S3 with 50 1.4 Millennium and waiting this set to be shipped out. Can't wait to try this combo. : )

Extra-extra nerdy. Where else in the world do they have annual camera beauty contests? (No lie. Generally every February.)

I'll bring my extra snobby German 35 Cron V.4 for trade or for sale. Of course its a clean one with caps and hood.

Also know that after one meet-up the guys decided to decorate me like a Christmas tree. (See avitar.) LOL. Mostly we make fun of each other like although I have a grip fetish, John above has a serious strap fetish.

Cal

DISCLAIMER: Be aware that I have been known to "Daytrade" Leica LTM bodies, and that in a one week period I bought three of them from Adorama, traded two away, and sold one to a friend and within a week bought it back.

making fun of each other, in good spirits, is akin to reaching a higher level of friendship

Damned straight. :)

- Barrett

Barrett is our MC for our annual beauty contest. Anyways I always have a good time laughing at myself.

Also have met a lot of talented shooters from all over the world.

Then there's all the gear. At one meet-up we had 7 M9's. When the M9 first came out we had two entered in our first annual beauty pagent, and we quickly identified the one with the lower serial number as the "Vintage" M9. LOL.

Cal, thanks for the link. I'll be there at 1pm but I don't think I'll meet up earlier to shoot. Looks like rain on Sunday.

Chris,

See you Sunday. I'll be shooting my F3P rigged with a motordrive and Noct-Nikkor. A little rain never stopped me, unless its a downpour.

For those interested: Sunday is the annual "Atlantic Antic". A huge festival held on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn. It stretches from the BQE to Flatbush Ave.
A great photo opportunity - cultural events, stages, food festival etc. Anyone interested in leaving the meetup let's say around 3:30 and heading to Brooklyn? Quick ride from the Broadway Lafayette station across from Puck Fair to Atlantic Avenue. Thought I'd mention it as I know we like to sometimes do some street shooting after the meetup.

by the way where are you guys located?? I live in west village , i dont wanna give my apt number out just yet but lol I live right by lomography. Not that i am a hipster or anything i fkin hate em , they think they are so different with their tight jeans when they all look the same , it's a paradox state for the conformist

Hey guys, thanks for all your kind words. I'm looking forward to some super nerdyness on Sunday.

Kind of fell in love with my M3 but only have a 35mm lens. I think I'd enjoy shooting a good 50mm on my M3 more than the 35mm f/2.8 M39 Summaron even hough it's a superb lens.

I could be into this Jeff.

I actually am planning on meeting some family there and walking Atlantic Avenue. I go every year and it's always a good time. Indeed a great photo opportunity as well.

Jeff,

Just give me any excuse to shoot, and I'll be there. Cameras are already loaded.
