My Nokton 40/1.4 (S.C.)...
Is incredibly sharp (see this one hi-res in the attachment)
Can be beautiful wide open (this was shot after dusk)
And is allergic to flare
What more can I say? This is my favourite lens.

Wow! Great Images! The bokeh is a bit rough wide open, but, as another poster showed, at f/2, things are better. Thanks for sharing.

Sockeyed, Beautiful shots. I wish the 40 was available in LTM. From what I read on Steven's site it's M mount only. Anyway, nice work.

sockeyed, I got a 40 to partner up with a CL and they make a fine team. I know
the consensus on bokeh wide open is unfavorable, but I think it's wonderful. But
then I've already established that I like the screwy, messy bokeh which makes
everybody else crazy.
If it should ever be made available for SLRs I'd put one on my OM-3. Those are some
mighty fine shots, and an argument could be made that you are making the lens look
so good.

Thanks for the comments, guys! I do love this lens. The bokeh gets a bit funky wider than f/2, but at least there's the option of going to f/1.4 if you need it.
Fred - isn't there an SLR version? Cosina Voigtlander makes a 40/2 Nokton in a variety of different mounts including OM:

Hi -- that's an Ultron 40mm f/2, not a Nokton f/1.4sockeyed said:Fred - isn't there an SLR version? Cosina Voigtlander makes a 40/2 Nokton in a variety of different mounts including OM:

Hi, I got the same combo, R3A + Nokton 40, very funny for street photography, a big improvement compared to my huge Nikoon F90. It takes some time to focus rapidly, but the light meter is almost perfect, with velvia 100 it didn't miss a single shot.
As for bokeh, I agree with you, it's not bad at 2-2.8, moreover it gives you the possibility to shoot as open as 1.4...
What film did you use for the above pictures? and which scanner?
thank you for the good pictures.
