Off camera flash for M4

Not being cantakerous... but why would anyone shoot with an M4 and want to use flash? Leicas were born for available light.....

Because you need to fill shadows sometimes? Or because the scene begs for lighting up a bit?

You don't have to do it all the time mind you, but sometimes it is handy.

I kind of agree with you but I do use my Leica with flash sometimes and this is how I set it up. These are not the Alien Bees which sell for about $130, these are the CactusV2s trigger and receiver, they sell for $25.

I use the remotes because I don't like the cords, besides cords are $15 and the Cactus is $25. You can see in the picture that the only trick is to keep you fingers out of the way of the sensor. So you shoot with your right hand and hold the flash out with your left.

The Alien Bees are much easier to use than the Cactus.

Sorry, I made the same mistake as Alkis (telenous). I've only used a couple of M3s and an M2.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the M4 was the first with PC sync and the M4-2 was the first with a hot shoe.

Al, haven't there been other cameras with spring-loaded sockets?
