Off is not off

My M6TTL has a little issue.

When I put the wheel at off, in fact it is not off.
Or let me put it in an other way;
The light meter is off, but when I put the time wheel to off,
the camera functiones as in the B mode.
Light meter is off, put releasing the trigger will act like B mode.

Is there anyone with a M6TTL who can check if for their camera off is indeed off?

Thanks,

Mad_boy.

'OFF' just means that the power is off. Yes, it is exactly the same as B mode. On the regular M6, there is no 'OFF', but turning the shutter dial to 'B' accomplishes the same thing. The idea is merely to prevent accidental power drain should the shutter button be accidentally partially depressed when in the camera bag.

What would 'turn off' a purely mechanical camera? Maybe something like the safety on a rifle or hand gun? Simple answer: just don't advance the film, so the shutter remains uncocked.

hm...I didnt know this, good information. I would think that off on a mechanical camera would be locking the camera so the meter would not come on and the shutter would not fire. I can see myself wasting a few shots because the camera was off and then the shutter fired in my bag. Is this the same case with the M7 and its off switch thing?

The M7 is different. It has an on/off switch coaxial with the shutter release with a tab on the front. In "off" position the switch turns off the electronics and prevents the release from being depressed. The 1/60 and 1/125 are mechanical, and could fire without power if the off switch were not locked.

M6's can be left unwound to prevent bag misfires.
