Off to Sicily

Hi film friends

I'm going to Sicily in a couple of weeks with my school. It's actually pretty good taking students abroad because you end up doing so many things and visiting so many places, far more than I'd probably do if I went by myself!

I'm going to take my OM1 and 28mm with Pan F and my R-D1 with me. From experience of Italy at this time of year the Pan F works well. I've always liked this film.

I wondered if anyone has been, and if so, do you have pictures to share?

I had my honeymoon there almost 20 years ago! Taormina, Enna, Palermo, the Cosa Nostra. It was before I was passionate about photography but it's a beautiful place, home of my...ummm...criminal ancestors. Enjoy!
 
A few years ago I was on an alumni tour centered on Siracusa, with expeditions to Agrigento and Taormina, mostly looking at historical sites but we had time to wander around and explore a bit. Enjoyable experience.

Great place and people but don't rely on the trains which are erratic at best although very good value for money. I tried to get some good photographs but failed but the potential is there for sure.

I've not been to that part of Italy but after watching every episode of "Inspector Montalbano" I have always been impressed with the photographic potential. If the TV show is anything to go by you should have a great time.
 
pass by Favignana island if you can, it's a magic place for seaside views. There's only a small village on it, tho.
 
Embarrassed to admit I have never been in Sicily but for what I have been told much to see and photograph there, and yes the landscapes you see in the Montalbano series give an idea...

Cannot find the thread, but I posted some Rolleiflex and Sony RX100 images I shot in March when I was there with my family.

We spent all our time in the baroque area of Sicily (Valle di Noto) where the architecture is breathtaking. This is a UNESCO protected area and well worth a visit even if off the typical hot-spot route.

I just arrived form Malta-Sicily-Rome. Photos are in my Flickr (see below) and still uploading more per day.

I took the M240 and a Konica Dual-Hexanon 21/35, but ended up using on 21mm 99% of the time.
