Official announement by Leica

Just received the official italian prices (20% VAT included), with the availability date:

Leica M8.............................€ 4195 - late november
Tri-Elmar 16-18-21 asph......€ 3100 - december
Elmarit 28 asph...................€ 1350 - october

No more intrigue. No more mystery.

It all over now except for ever more cases of GAS.

But sadness since the delivery date is now being touted as late-November... Those of us with deposits have been believing we'd get ours in October.

Now one fears that late-November becomes mid-January, late-March, mid-2007, etc...

Even after seeing the cost of the "new" 28 Elmarit I'm grateful for the kind fellow who felt a UV filter would mess up his "image qualit" and got that little 1/16" scratch on his Type IV Elmarit, then sold it to me for $550 :D
 
I purchased a "defective" Elmarit (3rd version) last year. Had it fixed right away, and now it's permanently attached to one of my M6TTL bodies. Thank goodness for people like John Van Stelten, who repair lens separation! :)
 
I have an M4-2 that I purchased new in 1983 for $800 plus a lens. I have 35mm, 50mm and 90mm lenses for it. I have ZERO interest in a M-8.

At those prices, they can keep them. That's the French for you.
