Its funny how the LTM bug creeps up o you
Just realised that l may have an LTM bug and/or addiction. I started with a IIIg, now l have a III, IIIc, and a IIIg, coupled with a 5cm Elmar, 5cm Summar, 3,5cm Summaron, not to mention SBOOI and SBLOO finders, plus various Leitz hoods........where will it all end l wonder, (apart from divorce). Anyone else have such a GAS addiction, how did it creep up on me

It does not seem to go away either ... I've sold them off, and then after a while I get the urge to "save" another one. And it starts again. Latest one was a II - just too tempting at under 200 euros ... now I need another Elmar for it.

Now I pretty satisfied with my set up. And currently, I am waiting for a first-year production of the Summicron 50 2 collapsable arrive to add to my LTM collection. Some of my other LTM lenses are in DAG's hand. Can't wait to get them back.

I start collecting LTM lenses 8 years ago. So I slowly building up my collection. It takes time to find them. And this year I finally purchased the Leica IIIG to let my LTM lenses mount on the camera body they originally designed for.

Resist! You'll hate the loading procedure and the squinty optic!

I get what you're saying, Mike! I love my very early Leica II, this is the 208th camera ever built...

Questions Re: IIIg
Since it’s the last of the Barnacks... The design & parts are slightly different ... Are Parts Easy to find ?
Whats makes the IIIg Special ?

'What makes it special', that's an interesting question, for me all Barnacks are interesting, but the built in finder for 50 amd 80 make the IIIg feel just right.

Hey Johann,
That covering (and camera) are really cool. Is that Stingray skin? Where did you get that?

Resistance is futile. They are great user cameras. An external vf fixes the squinting problem, if you find it a problem.. and apart from the Elmar, the CV 21/4 and 35/3.5 LTM lenses are very compact, if you don't mind modern rendering. It's a slippery slope because there's so many good lenses out there and they can all be used on an M with an adapter - I'm looking at you, collapsible 'cron 5cm f/2 and Summitar 5cm f/2. And then there's the commie lenses..

Hi,
Well, one day you will realise that there's more to it than dusting unused cameras and then you start thinking about the minimum you could use and enjoy. That's when it gets difficult as building up the collection is a haphazard process with little to hold you back but reducing it means a lot of thought and decisions; so not exactly easy...
And next comes sorting them out and scrapping some, selling others and, perhaps, getting one of two repaired to sell. My biggest fear is that a lot will end up in a skip when I'm gone because few can recognise all the bits and pieces I've accumulated over the last 40 or so years. I often wonder how many AGRIFs have been scrapped along with a FHKOO or two...
Regards, David
PS And when you take a P&S or two to the charity shop and spot a ............. that you've always wanted, for a couple of pounds, well, what can you do?
