I cannot believe my luck....after scrimping and saving for several years I finally got my dream camera (leica m6ttl) and I have been enjoying it so much. However the last roll of film I got had the ominous white mark on almost all of the negs...aka hole in my shutter. Sure enough I have just checked...a hole a little bigger than a pinhole. Rang up my repair guy and he said he might be able to patch it but to replace the curtains I am looking at 300-400 NZD....which as a student is not that easy to come by....I hope it is not a complete curtain replacement 🙁

Sorry but I had to vent

I read a lot of reports of fixing these small holes with liquid electrical tape on the forum ... might be worth a try.

$300 to $400 to replace curtains seems steep to me! The joys of living on an outpost I guess ... Oz isn't much better IMO! 😛

I have an M2 with a patched curtain, not a problem. I have a Canon III which has many pinholes- curtains are dry.

Chances are, if it does not look like fireflies went through the image, but looks like one spot- patching should work.

Have the repairman try the patch first. If he states "replace or nothing", try another shop.

got a hole in india.

fixed it with tape.

i will keep that m6 forever anyways... but my heart dropped that day...

Search on this forum. There are several posts on this topic suggesting various products that work well to patch curtains. Liquid Electrical Tape is one - I found some in an auto parts store in Oz. There are others that work well too.
