A girlfriend has fun using the art filters on her iPhone and they look fun for her wants... so sure, I'd let other people have them on a camera... I shoot A or M though, so as long as I can find them on the dial, no problem!
I'm very fond of Instagram and the Lomo-fi filter. Garish, with a faux-filed film holder border, but suited well to the kinds of things you use a phone to photograph.

OM-D sounds like it could be a fantastic little camera!
I do like using the E-P1 but given the choice I would have liked the option to mount a EVF. The price one pays for being an early adopter

Love my EP-2 with EVF, Oly 17/f2.8 and 45/f1.8 lenses. What I do not like is that the EVF is an add-on and I always feel like it's gonna fall off. Sounds like the new OM-inspired version is just what I need. The 16MP sensor and improved sensors performance is just icing.

Aesthetic judgements aside, art filters can be fun. I really enjoy the "miniature" one that simulates tilt on a large format camera. The Ricoh GXR actually allows for quite a bit of customization in the art filters, and in diorama mode (or whatever they call it) you can change the position and width of the in-focus area.
The one thing that i don't like about the art filters is that if you preview them in live mode it really slows down the image. Feels like you're in a dream where you go to school with no pants on then try to run away from the monsters but can't pick up any speed.
This is a weird little nit, but I miss the matte black finish of the E-1, E-3 and E-5. I'm not a fan of shiny black cameras. Will this come in a decent chrome finish? (I'm also not a fan of that new shiny black standard zoom, the term "ribbed for her pleasure" comes to mind and makes me giggle. Might be a fine lens, it's lame for me to knock it based on junior high-school humor. Then again, part of the appeal of these cameras is aesthetics, so I guess that's fair game then.)
The next camera up for the celebrity retrospective treatment should be the E-1. I'd love a m4/3 version of that camera. Truly great ergonomics-the grip was to die for-and ashame they moved away from that body shape entirely. Always felt at home in the hand!

well, if the screen is indeed a tilt screen maybe you can turn it 180° so that it faces inwards & you never have to see it/can forget it's there?

Now I wonder about the viewfinder.
In my mind the viewfinder should be an original OM1 pentaprism and eyepiece mounted over a flat OLED where the film camera's focusing screen lay. That would allow for a huge viewfinder without a huge casing.

Excellent point. I keep buying E-1's. I just picked up an E-1 with 500 shutter clicks on it, and I just installed a rubber grip kit, to replace the original that was peeling away as they all do. $16 for the new rubber grip and doublesided tape kit cut to fit. Half hour clean up and install.
Don't know how I'd feel about a mirrorless m4/3 model. The weight is one of the best things about the E-1... SOLID! And the colors from the kodak 5 MP sensor.... Not Matched or Rendered similarly in ensuing E-DSLRs, nor any of the Pens.
I'm still looking for more E-1's. I have a mint grip/battery kit w/two of the big batteries.

Couldn't agree more about the E1. If only they had just upgraded the sensor to the 10MP version in the E400(Kodak). That camera is still my all time favourite and i've had mine since they were released in the UK (2003/04). Also have an E5 now, but still prefer the E1.
As to the OMD, if its just a rehash of the existing M4/3 offerings I'm not sure if it will persuade me, but I do like OMs so who knows.
Based on the specs alone the new OMD looks to be far from a refresh. We will see. I would like to have learned there was a new sensor, because I do think we are seeing significant advancement in sensor technology, but perhaps the sensor that will be used is in fact as capable as the other new ones being produced and the increased processor power will make the camera able to get the most from it.

A leatherette covered opaque LCD cover would take care of that.

Which, if E-M5 is as good as it looks from this side of the release, will be sold as part of the fund.
Actually, I've been thinking about a digital camera that has no big LCD in the back, just a tiny one showing RGB Histogram, but an HDMI-like output that is tailored for iPads, Android tablets, and phones.
Benefit #1 - You still can check your exposures in real time.
Benefit #2 - You are not tempted/encouraged to chimp when shooting.
Benefit #3 When you get home or cafe, you can review your pictures in a bigger screen than any LCD.

Really does look like an OM. The retro styling bandwagon is getting a little crowded, but I must admit I'm charmed.
The new line is called OM-D, but this camera is called E-M5, apparently.

I am a real OM fan. But... this looks way too literal to me. I was hoping this might be a good camera with decent built-in VF and great ergonomics, on which I could use the Pana 20/1.7, but I've a feeling that here we're paying extra for it to be wrapped up in retro, skin-deep cosmetics.

Actually the new version of the modern beetle drives really well... Still looks a little odd though. I may be one of the only car enthusiasts that actually likes beetles though.
