Canon LTM Oh, what a find!

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Nice story... I liked scrolling down to see the photographs and the goodies you found. Neat way to illustrate the story of such a find! :)

Now... load some film on it and take a walk, shoot some photographs. I'm sure the old camera will enjoy the stroll, its old juices flowing, and will leave you with some very good samples of what a rangefinder lens can do.

I envy you... Sorry. Take care! :)

Welcome here, congrats on the find!

The Graflex is very nice, as is that Canon. If you're into photography at all, starting out with the Canon is quirky enough, assuming your the (D)SLR-kinda gal ;)
Once mastered that, start on the Graflex! I got some shots of a 6x9 cms negative sized camera under the camera top plate link in the signature, one's gotta love larger formats to shoot with!

Looking forward to seeing some of your future shots!

EDIT: those light bulbs that go into the Graflex flash are very rare today since not made any more. Treat them carefully, use them scarcely if you can find the appropriate battery flash!

Thanks for welcoming me, everyone! I can definitely say I look forward to seeing my first roll of film, which I'm headed out to develop now.

Russell, you really shouldn't go filling my mind with such a savior complex; it will get to my head and that won't be good for anyone! But perhaps I'll bring my own spunk and liveliness with my passion, eh?

My childlike excitement finding this was so incredibly overwhelming. But then again, according to those few that I keep close, I'm easily excitable. Who says that's a bad thing, though? Not I! Especially if it means I get more enjoyment out of life.

William, I'll definitely look more into that camera. I have absolutely zero experience with large format cameras/film, so I figure I'll jump back into film with my cutie patootie little RF.

I do have a flash for the bulbs, and I must say it's in working order. My cat-like curiosity got the best of me and I found out the easy - and blinding - way that the flash works.

I'll look into the Flickr groups. I'm new to that website so I'm just trying to find my way around at the moment. Once I get more acquainted, I'll jump right in there!

And the car - I forgot about the car!
Turns out that it needed new spark plugs, so we ran over to Autozone and put those babies in there.

Feel free to send it to me. I'll be sure to test it & make sure it works right ...

More seriously, it's very differnt from shooting small cameras but it can be a very rewarding art. You might be surprised at how much fun large format can be.

Heh. Finest kind of discovery  :D

I got my first roll back, and rather unfortunately, many of the pictures are blurry. That's what happens when you're new to range finders, I suppose.
I made a set on Flickr, but here are a couple of my own personal favorites.

This was my favorite, more the more I look at it, the less I like it.

If this one were focused, it would be my absolute favorite. My mother is such a beautiful woman.

Hmm. Nice color and composition. It seems to me that your point of focus is a bit ahead of what appears to be your intention. This seems clearest in the in focus greenery on "Rest" and the in focus floor boards in front of the broom on "Cleanup". I wonder if the RF is slightly off?

Where are you located?

William

That is sick. Congrats. Happy, happy, happy.... I wait for the day till me grandkids will find my boxes. Hope they will appreciate it... And maybe I can see this from heaven....

KEH is in Atlanta & does repair work. http://www.keh.com Perhaps they can check the RF on the camera?

I've never used them for that, but they are a reputable reseller.

Imagine, a totally analog camera, like a Swiss watch waiting to be wound. You wind it, and again it tells the time of 30, 40, 50 years ago....
