That looks like a Fiat 131 Brava I used to own.

Lookalike problem. I took this photo in Moldova, the former USSR...it's a Lada...

Ladas are built using the original Fiat design and tooling that Russia bought when Fiat ceased production of that model. I have ridden in a lot of Lada's in Cuba. Spent my share to time sitting on the side of the road while the driver was under the hood getting them running again.

Try shooting some portraits? Its like living in a huge softbox. ;)

Love portraits on overcast days!

Jan. I worked with her at a big-box store when I was in college over a decade ago. She still works there.

Gedda Starlin. We went to art school together. One of the most intelligent women I have ever known, and an extremely talented painter. I made this many years ago, when we were in school. She still looks the same, but with grayer hair.

My son at age 4, with his first camera, a Canon Owl. He has a Nikon D70 now, and a Kodak point-n-shoot digital.

In the winters, our rainy season, I'll get some flowers from the nice Japanese ladies at the farmers' market and shoot them indoors.

The backdrop is cheap felt from a fabric store. I got 2 yard pieces in white, grey and black, about $7 each if I remember. The lamps are cheap ones from Ikea with a little CF bulb in them, but at $10 each, I might get more of these LED lamps as well: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20169658/

Sometimes I use the Mamiya 645E and macro lens instead of the 4x5.

Shot the following image on a dull, completely overcast rainy day. The cloudyness more or less gives you a neutral slate to start from for contrast, so you have a maximum level of control with darkroom filters or curves in Photoshop.

In California all my roll film is set for sunny days. When we get a dull grey I lift the ISO/EI to get more contrast unless I'm going to shoot the whole roll. I also use Efke 820IR if it is in the winter when the leaves have fallen. If I have transparency film or Portra 160NC I just meter and shoot:

Persimmons! Mine are little green nuggets right now, but we're just going into summer. They won't be full-sized or ripe until next Autumn, maybe April 2012, most likely.
