OK Folks, what is Missing? How can we improve RFF ?

... Besides logging in to write a message and then being logged out within the span of a few minutes. By the time I hit send, I have to log back in and get confused as to where my message went--usually it's gone.

Thought this happened to only me. If I haven't copied my post, I have to retype it. :bang:

It's pain in the proverbial. With anything other than a quick post, I use Word, then copy and paste, which is a whole load of unnecessary faffing.

Is there a way around this?

This does not happen to me. When I get auto-logged out then I log back in it takes me directly back to editing my (un-erased) posting. Why? - beats me.

That 30-second wait between searches is a PAIN !

A request on threads that include a voting Poll.

Can we please not have the thread pop up at the top of the list of recent replies ("Bump")when a new vote is counted.

For example: A thread by a member who has a poll on which TLR kit to keep with four options. It's now 4 years old but when a new vote for one of the four options is registered it comes back to the top.

One cannot tell if there is a new comment or simply a new Poll vote which is usually the case.
If there is a new comment sure it should be a "Bump" but not a Bump for a new vote please. A simple thing yes ? :)

Cheers!

OK Folks,

What can I do as an administrator to improve RFF ?
I am open to suggestions.

I am not so much looking for tiny improvements,
as I am for BIG improvements and/or Added Features.

And PLEASE, no comments about the moderation. It is a given that Moderation is a constant battle which can by definition NEVER satisfy Everyone.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Stephen

Not a comment about the moderation as such Stephen because I think it's very good ... way ahead of other sites IMO and they (the mods) form the key to the harmony that generally exists here at RFF.

That said, next time you're selecting mods I would like to see at least one appointed from south of the equator. This forum is extremely diverse in it's member base but the choice of mods doesn't really reflect this IMO.

:)

Is this your official application?

But that's correct: As far as I know we have moderators from Canada, GB and USA (several). Pacific representatives, as well as Latin America, Africa, Continental/East Europe, Middle East and Asia are not part of the mods.

Do we have any statistic of currently active users by location (if given)?

A better NSFW filter. I could easily be fired if the wrong person walked by while the wrong image popped up. I don't see any way for members to tag other people's photos. It's all up to the poster. I know many people will scream about this, but I think it's necessary. Seems to be more of this dubious content getting posted and while I respect the pursuit and tradition of "mature" subjects, much of it is in questionable taste. Members should have the option to exclude this material, especially those of us who primarily use the site at work.

I kept thinking, "It's perfect, Stephen. Thank you," as I was reading all the updates to this.

Then I did my daily check of the classifieds and this one thought hit me:

"How cool would it be to have a monetary converter tab right on the page,

so one could view the item's price in the currency of your own country?"

Not me ... I really wouldn't have the patience! :D

This Aussie living in Japan doesn't count?

I pretty much love the view of RFF. I have read many photograph forums, RFF is always the best. It's classic black background looks nice and it improve my reading experience especially when I watch the pictures at the night. Please keep that. :)

But sorry, I don't have any idea for the improvement right now...

Find Moderators function?

Sorry, I'm not aware of a RFF function where I can have a list of moderators with one click: I just mentioned the ones I know. Is there such a list?
If not --> ENHANCEMENT request (one more)

Sorry ... in my book no! :D

Get back here and I'll consider you suitable. :p

Good one!

Look to the lower right of this page, see two rows of links... Center link of the three in the upper line = "View Forum Leaders". Could use some updating. :)

Oh no, please, not again. You found another UI difference between Graphite and HexCell styles :( I always use HexCell and, apart from missing some menu links on top, it also misses these special line of links. And Iskin is something differnt again. Why still this old issue?

OK, then please take this as a long missed ENHANCEMENT (or bug fix) :D

Since it's a photo forum, I think it'd be a good idea to enable the width and height parameters for the img BB-tag!
