Switching back and forth between old and new, do you find the lack of 1/2 and 1/3 stops on (certain?) older cameras an issue?

Reason I'm asking is that I'm playing around with a pair of 60/70s cameras that are all mechanical except of the meter and quite frankly I'm nor sure if the lack of "clicks" on the oldies is a relief or worrisome. On one hand maximising exposure (ETTR and RAW) and getting every bit of DR out of a digital sensor would be a lot more difficult w/o the option of 1/3s or 1/2s. Is this simply not a concern with film?

Even if your lens only has click-stops on full stops, you can still move it to any position between them. Same goes for shutter speeds, at least on Leica M's. So 1/2- and 1/3-stop adjustments are certainly possible on old cameras.

It appears you are correct, this seems to work both with my Petri FT1000 and Hi-Matic 7s. At least as far as aperture goes. A bit harder to check it with shutter speeds. I will go hide in the corner now! :bang:

For most cameras shutter speed settings are only accurate at the marked speed.
