Oleg Oprisco, Ukrainian photographer

Isn't it easy enough to just not comment?

I can understand what you're getting at but wouldn't it diminish the forum's usefulness if only praise were heaped?

Your example of the camera gets at the point, though my take on it is, I think, different from yours. A lot of people come here, I'm guessing, to help them form opinions on what camera might best suit them. If a discussion on the Leikon Bessax only contains the opinions of those who admire it, then a completely false opinion of its qualities will be presented. On the other hand, if those who have tried it and find they prefer the Zeica P are included in the discussion, the newcomers will get a great deal more from the thread.

In the same way, if people join the forum, wishing guidance on what subjects and styles will give them the most benefit, surely we should be showing them that a particular approach is not universally admired.

I wonder if, as a moderator, you find yourself pouring water on too many flame wars? It's not the case that disagreement is bad, in my opinion. The way in which the disagreement is presented can be positive or negative, as can the original posting. "Fred Bloggs new photos are brilliant" is more likely to provoke an ascerbic reply than "I quite like what Fred Bloggs has done here". In the same way, "Fred Bloggs is rubbish", as a response, will be quite likely to start a row, whereas "I looked at those Fred Bloggs photos but I wasn't taken with them" is much less provocative.

So my overall comment is: express your true views but do it politely.

P.S. I was too busy typing to see your last response come in. Sorry.

Kind of girlish, glamorousish style, which I'm too bad ass to be fan off. In terms of the portraits, nothing but B/W MF film for me.

But well done job of his, for sure. Гарны дивчины, this is how they say in Ukrainian 🙂

Just in case. In last couple of days I was all over cheering to our Italian dude going to NY and our Norwegian dude going to Paris photographs. 🙂 Just because I like it.
