I occasionally use colour slide film, like Velvia 100; some people think this is over saturated and a bit un-natural. It is very vibrant! Not sure how easy it is to get prints from, but it scans very well. Others have recommenced Kodak Portra (160 and 400 ASA) - I have just placed a film in to be developed now and am waiting to get this back... Can't comment too much as yet
Otherwise I do not know too much about other films...

Slide film has to be exposured VERY correct right? I think you can get prints from them in every lab. I also heard that the overall quality of slide film is much better than negativ film.
I sometimes like to shoot BW and I am very curious about if I can make out a visible difference between the "standard" kodak bw 400 cn and the Tmax 100. Of course, the grain will be better but what about the rest?

£1.60? Nice price. I've just this minute bought a 35SP from a car boot sale (a UK 'tradition'?) for £5. The PX625 is dead, but thankfully there's no corrosion in the battery compartment. Along with that, the film chamber's clean, as is the lens and filter (unlike my previous Olympus purchase). The filter too can be removed... unlike my previous Olympus purchase.
Fingers crossed.
Edit: Having seen photo results in this thread, it looks like the lens has that appealing softness to it.

I've not looked in great detail into the slides from my Oly 35-SP (no loupe just now) but the softness could just as well be my scanner (epson 4490) which is not the best 35mm scanner in the world.
Congrats on your purchase. Hope to see some photos here soon
