It's my fav lens of the OM system, it has medium-high contrast and very sharp, macro to 1:2 IIRC. Here are a few pics I've taken with mine: http://www.flickr.com/search/?q=om macro&w=57737021@N00

Vow really nice pics, what would you say is a good price for a clean one, some ebayers are asking 500 or more?

$500+ is what they go for, they are uncommon. I have one, lucked into it several yrs ago at a small town camera shop in Muncie, Indiana for $200 in near-new condition. As I said, they're normally around $500.
Incredibly sharp lens, said by some to be the sharpest 50mm lens ever made for an SLR. Its disadvantages are very large size (really too fat for the OM bodies) so its a bit awkward to hold and the focus ring goes all the way to 1:2 so in the normal range of distances it has a VERY short throw, making focus hard to do at normal working distances. I have not shot much macro with mine, it is said to be a better standard lens than a macro, but mine seems sharp enough up close. You might look into the 50/3,5 Zuiko Macro, it is said to be sharper up close than the f2, and it is cheap, often around $100-$150.

I haven't had much trouble using it as an everyday lens, but that might just be me. It's true that it's big, much bigger than average OM lens, but then you have macro and normal fast lens in one package, quite handy if you shoot up close alot like I do. I got mine for ~$400 from ffordes

I just went for it on a $35 OM-PC that I didn't need!

Supposed to be "fully functional". I know all about the PC's funky electronics, but I figure (hopefully) any defects will show during the return period. This is the kind of thing I do when I finally have money in my paypal account.

Man, I know what you mean ... I get money in PayPal, thinking I'll keep it there, let it build up from additional sales, so as to make a significant purchase. But then ...
Well, it won't happen again ... I'm determined that my PayPal balance will not go down, it will stay static or go up until it's time for the "big" purchase.

The OM-PC uses the hard-to-find 2-13 focusing screen (a bright screen), so if the camera doesn't work, or breaks, you can transplant the screen into whatever OM you are using (2-13 screens typically go for more than $35 by themselves). Unfortunately, you have to do a little "surgery" to removed the screen from an OM-PC...

Hate to interrupt, but I thought this thread was about the macro 50/2!

This sticker was on the dirty glass of an old display counter, next to the one the liquor bottles above were in. The white specks were on the glass and are resolved very sharp, as is the tax sticker, which is only 2x2 inches.

loneranger, have no fear... as evidenced by Chris' excellent examples above, posts regarding the 50/2 macro are still being allowed...

Talking of the 50/3.5 (sorry), I've just picked one up from the Famous Auction Site for 45 English Pounds (about $70), from a seller with very good feedback.
Apparently it has a slight ding on the filter ring (though not enough to stop a filter being mounted), but is otherwise in top condition. I look forward to its arrival

Thanks, I shot it on Kodak T400CN, a film many insist is incapable of good tonality
