Just been given a nice RC35, trouble is the shutter is not work, now before I get to carried away does it need a battery in it to fire the shutter or is the battery just for the meter. Also the focus is loose is that normal?

Cheers
Shane

Hi Shane, the battery is just for the meter.
The shutter on mines fires fine, and there's no battery in it.

Can't comment on the focus. Mine's is a bit tight, feels like the grease might need renewing... but it's usable.

good luck, great kit!

If F stop ring is set to "A" and there is no battery or you are out of the range of the meter, then the release will lock up. Take it off "A", choose an f stop and see if it fires there. John

OK thanks. It much more than the battery after a better look, the shutter cocks (in manual) and when you press the button it does "click" but shutter doesn't fire. Also when you hold it upside down the rear blind opens a bit and you can see aperture blades, moving the aperture ring does not alter the aperture size like I expect. Time to get out the screwdrivers I think.

OK bit of a update, it seems to be missing a bit that links the blade activating shaft to the shutter speed gears, there is a little L shape metal piece that pivots and operates the shutter but there is nothing to connect that to the rest of everything else, i think there needs to be a rotating post just above it. Bugger was a nice little camera too.
