There have been lots of big white lenses on the sidelines, saw a bunch of unidentifiable cameras in the hands of the athletes during the opening ceremony.... Lots of mid to high end super zooms in the audience....

Haven't seen any leicas
Not the best rig for the job - unless you're really close.

Couldn't imagine shooting some of this without super fast af and a full kit of big and small lenses.

Makes you respect what they did in the 70's and before

Yes. It's not easy... Imagine doing it all manual and heavier glass... 36 shots, change film...
None of the photography for a massive sports event like this is easy,
