Yesterday, I bought this camera for 1 euro at a garage sale. It was badly affected with battery corrosion at the bottom.

I opened it and cleaned the contacts. Then I inserted two batteries (SR44 size), one in each bay, and padded with foil.

Now the light at the top goes on steady (it's also visible in the VF) when I press the shutter, and the shutter sounds normal (although always about the same speed), but it does not open.

Any idea what I can do ? Taking the bottom off and add some drops of lighter fluid ?

Thanks,
Stefan.

shutter problem

Hello,
First, i would not use the sr44 batteries, since the original batteries are only 1.4v and only two batteries are used.
I've bought the batteries seen in ebay has PX640 / PC640A / LR52 / MR9 battery which are the batteries more similar to the originals in mA and volts.
If you use only two normal sr44 it would have the necessary mA to turn on the lights.

In terms of shutter blades, i would open the lens by the front and try to clean it from there, which i've done sucessfull in many olympus cameras.

Good luck!
