I picked up this camera today at a local flea market. I have figured out that the button on the back top cover is backlight compensation but the button on the bottom cover marked "F" has me baffled.. This is the button next to the rewind button.

If memory serves me right (I don't have my DC next to me) - the "F" button on the bottom of the camera forces the shutter to close and was to be used when loading the film.

I shot a roll through it yesterday with excellent results but then the 40mm f/1.7 Olympus F.Zuiko lens is well known for its quality.

Am I correct in assuming the shutter also acts as the aperture/

I think you are right about the shutter being the diaphram too, the bokeh in the shot of the woman in the red sweater shows five blades, a neat effect I think.

After watching the shutter while cycling it it does appear that the shutter is in fact also the aperture.

Alright! found the thread about this camera.
I just got mine today and I was excited. The camera seems to haven't been used that much. The body is pristine, the battery well is spotless and the focus ring is smooth, I pop in my battery and voila, shutter and metering works fine.... wohoo!

... but... isn't there always a but 🙁

... I can't rotate the darn ISO ring!!!!!

Unless there's a ritual that I have to go through to change the ASA, don't I just have to rotate the second black (darn narrow) ring in front of the focus ring to change the ASA ??

well that ring is stuck at 100ASA and will only budge a few mm, otherwise it's stuck solid.

Colyn or Clint, if you still have the DC, could you please tell me what I did wrong?

Sounds like there may be some sort of lock that needs to be depressed or moved. Other than that, maybe it's just stuck and needs freeing up w/ lighter fluid? Lubrication?

Yep, I've confirmed it via reading the manual which can be viewed here that my ASA dial is indeed stuck.

I start to think that I may have to get my hands de-clumsified and start fixing problems like this myself... <sigh>
