My brother bought Olympus E-p2 few months ago but camera looks to be jammed. He can't turn it off, only by removing battery. Someone had this problem too? Any advices?

quoted from another thread:

wish i could help but this has never happened to me as i don't use a VF (or legacy lenses yet) on my E-P2. i have, however, had the camera freeze on me before.... when this happens the aperture reading on the LCD (in A priority) or the shutter speed reading (in S priority) completely blacks out and i am left being able to do anything including fire the shutter. sometimes i can turn off the camera with the power button but other times i'm forced to take out the battery to turn it off.... *shrugs* it has only happened a handful of times, so i don't really worry about it. it probably isn't even related to your problem, but hopefully your problem isn't serious.

edit: on a side note, i have never had to reset my camera.

does that sound like what's happening with your brother's camera?

Siepacz, I had the same problem with a new E-P2, right out of the box (on/off non-functional, always on). I called Olympus service, and they suggested that since it was new I return it to the dealer for an exchange. I did, and the replacement has been OK for several months now. It is interesting to know that this is not an isolated problem.

My Ep-2 "died" a few days ago. The shutter curtain os covering the sensor, and it will not lift. I removed the battery repeatedly and I restet the camera. It is stuck.

Have not heard of an such problems with Panasonics, another reason to use them?

I have a G1 and G2. Love them both, no problems...
