Olympus E-P5 is available, impressions

I wanted to share that I just got to play with the new Olympus PEN-5.
It's finally become available at a local retailer yesterday here in Canada.

First PERSONAL impression:
-The built feel is not on par with E-P1 nor E-M5
-Noisier shutter (not much), again compared to OM-D
-Autofocus (with 17mm/1.8) is slower than OM-D's with 12-50mm zoom.
-The back screen's resolution is too high which makes it hard to see the icons
-The EVF is very nice, big eyepiece and an angle tilt
-Almost the same size as OM-D.
OM-D feels like a better buy to me still.
And it's even 400 Benjamins less!

Not sure what Oly tried to do with this release but I hope
it'll find it's market.

Interesting. I had just about the exact opposite impression on these four points. I like the control ergonomics and camera shape more than the E-M5. Thank the gods for lots of great choices, eh? 🙂

I too, was confused with the decision to release this camera, rather than waiting until they have something that can really go head-to-head with the Fuji X series.

I still remember grabbing an OM-D for the first time. I was impressed, it felt like a real camera. This is the camera that would have made me waste 1K on. E-P5 is nice, but I am not tempted that much. I was anticipating it for a long time to replace my E-P1 but it seems I'll be waiting for E-P6 to come out.
