OM-1 users what battery are you using for the meter?

I use these. You need to adjust the ISO setting to compensate for the higher voltage but they are long lasting and reliable.

I had mine converted to use the SR44 button cell. Adjusting the ISO will give you good results in good light but i noticed in mine (before conversion) that in very low light or in very bright conditions there was an error of +-1 stop.

Hi,
Another SR44 modification done here. Part of a routine service, so I can't say what it cost.

I also had the modification done when I had my camera serviced (by John Hermanson.)

This company makes adapters for a variety of batteries to knock the voltage back to what the camera specs call for. http://www.criscam.com/ Then you can use the more common 1.55V batteries.

It is easier to use a ZA675 zinc-air hearing aid battery. You only need an O ring to centre it.

That's what I use too.

OP: I have used zinc-air batteries in a variety of cameras, included unconverted OMs, rangefinders, etc. You do need the proper spacer (normally an o-ring as mentioned,) which, inevitably seem to get misplaced/lost. Also, the zinc-air batteries do not last nearly as long as silver-oxide batteries. If you have multiple cameras that use the 1.4v zinc-air batteries, when I pick up a camera that has not been in rotation, bam, the battery is dead.
If your OM has not had a professional CLA within the last several years, you should consider it. Have John at zuiko.com do it and he will convert the metering system and battery chamber to take commonly available and cheap silver oxide SR44 batteries.
Metering with an alkaline battery is NOT recommended - the discharge curve is simply WRONG for the OM and as the battery depletes your exposures will progressively be off even though the meter display seems to be behaving normally.
The nice thing about the OM-1 is that it is fully operational without a meter, so you can use an external meter or Sunny 16 if your battery is dead or you don't have a battery.
