I've been intrigued by this elusive lens. I'm curious if anyone can offer some examples, thoughts regarding its performance relative to other standards in the lineup. Also, what is a reasonable price for this lens?

Hello,
the lens is tiny and makes the pen F camera's truly pocketable. Don't expect the performance of the other standard lenses. Close focussing is 80cm and that is not very close
.
Prices range from cheap to about 400$, if you're lucky one is simply connected to a body, that's the way I got mine, including lens case, pen FT and body cap for 250$. If it weren't this way, I wouldn't have bought it.
I must admit it looks terribly handsome on a pen FV though

thanks! I usually see them around $400 and it seems a high price to pay for compactness if the lens isn't excellent.

Just were interested to see diff between std and pancake lenses, and found picture of both them. I have SLR pancake and can admit that if I want to go compact, there are smaller cameras than SLR and better lenses bigger just by a little.

Here is my Pen-F 38mm 2.8 Pancake, along side their usual sized 38mm 1.8. I did a side by side comparison, and the Pancake is just as sharp, and has warmer colors.

Could you guide me to any literature about Pen F lenses and accessories?
Many thanks!

the 38/2.8 is probably a Tessar design, instead of Double-Gauss as in 1.8 and 1.4
