Hello -- Question for the Oly users/owners. I have a Stylus Epic (non-zoom), a great little camera. An odd mechanical problem appeared recently: the camera will rewind the film at random points in the roll of film. For example, on a recent Saturday, the camera rewound the film at frame 6. I pulled the leader out, fired off the 6 shots in a black bag, and then shot 15 more before it wound the film back at frame 22.

Is this a common problem? Is it an easy fix? Given the camera goes for $15 used, I'm not sure if a repair is worth it. Thanks for your advice.

Good guess on the battery freshness.... I should have stated that the battery is showing up as fully charged in the LCD readout. I ought to try replacing it, tho. Thx CC

Maybe your using a 36 exp roll and its binding slightly coming out of the cannister making the Oly think its at the end and try to rewind? Maybe the cold has made the film a little stiffer? 24 exp rolls may bind a little less due to less film in the can...just guessing here.

Make sure the little button that you press with a pen to rewind the camera is free, and not stuck down, perhaps use a pen to press it a few times to makes sure it depresses and returns easily.

It happened once to mine, battery in full operation displayed...

Two days later, the battery died...maybe the roll-can was defected and "hard" in letting the film roll out, or the battery was starting to be exausted and felt resistance to the advance..

regards.

Hello again -- meant to say thank you to all the responders. I think that Gabriele's situation is what I faced. Thanks to the community here for making a first-time poster welcome. CC
