Hi,

I just picked up a T20 flash today but I'm unable to get it to consistently fire while attached to my OM2n. I've been trying to get it working in TTL Auto mode and in manual mode but neither of them fire now (haven't tried Auto but I imagine it's the same). I have accessory shoe 4 and I've read the section in my Olympus OM2n manual about using flash and reviewed the T20 manual online as well.
TTL essentially seems like 'plug-n-play.' When I turn the flash on, the capacitor charges (makes the ubiquitous whine). The Charge light doesn't ever seem to come on, though it did at the store and it did a few times here at home. T
he only light that comes on is the Auto Check light, which blinks repeatedly on the T20 and in the viewfinder of the OM. I've put in fresh AA's and cleaned all the contacts.
Am I doing something wrong, do I need to improve my reading skills or is the flash going back to the shop?

Hi,

In your shoes I'd take it and the camera and new and old batteries back to the shop and see what they make of it.

No one seems to want OM cameras' flash guns; whenever I see one on ebay it is unsold and usually there will be one or two dirt cheap. That's the route I'd go.

Regards, David

There is something wrong with the above sentence.
No OM can do TTL OTF in Manual exposure mode apart the OM-3Ti.
In order for the TTL OTF to work you have to switch the camera to the Auto position and use the Aperture Priority exposure mode and the flash needs to be set to what effectively is the Manual mode or you just use the calculator panel set to the Full Auto OM2.
The charge light will take minutes to come up with old batteries. After all, it only uses 2 batteries.
