I was invited along for a ride to Blacksburg, VA (from Roanoke) by the members of the Commonwealth Coach and Trolley Museum, where I sometimes hang around. Their mission is to preserve and display mostly busses from companies that operated in Virginia. The trolley part of the name comes from the system that used to operate in Roanoke, before busses took over.

Our ride this evening is so we can meet up with the New RiverValley members that can't always make it to Roanoke for meetings and work nights. We took one of the two latest acquisitions, called a Buffalo because of the humpback style of it's roofline. I remember riding one of these when I went into the service, and this one is still in top shape. The top has a cap covering the hump, as some operators thought it gave the bus a newer look.

The weather didn't look good for taking a road trip up the mountain. This was downtown Roanoke, VA about an hour before we were supposed to depart the buseum.

Driving through the mountains is hard on large vehicles, so VDOT is widening I-81 to put in truck lanes, blasting their way from Ironto to Christiansburg. Most of the blasting should be done by the end of June, ending the "Daily Detour" onto US-11 that has become a daily headache for some.

Wow! That ultramax 400 looks fantastic. Such rich, realistic colors. Did you scan yourself or was it process and scan? Great results from an overlooked camera, thanks for sharing.

Noll, I had this developed and scanned at CVS Pharmacy onto a Kodak CD. It's twice the resolution one gets with the CVS store brand CD. I had to do a little tweeking on some of the shots (mostly tuning down the flash effects) in PSE8, but the color was left alone. I think I'll put this camera in a bag with the Oly 35RC, so I'll have a wide angle (28mm) to go with it.

i almost use ultramax 400 only, because i found some expired (9/2011) stock at a great price.
it is THE snap-happy film for me.

The grocer where I do most of my shopping decided to redo the store layout, in an attempt to induce shoppers to splurge buy (by rearranging the entire store in a most unreasonable manner). In the process, they determined that film sales were no longer making enough profit, so they put everything in the clearance bins. Someone beat me to the BW400CN, but I cleaned them out of Ultramax 400, and Gold 200. All still in date. Then, they restored the film sales panel, but kept putting Ultramax in the clearance bin. I think the stockers were as confused as the shoppers as to where everything was supposed to be, and accidentally put the next shipment of Ultramax on clearance. I'm stocked up now. It is very nice stuff for all the slow p&s cameras I have.
