isnt it silly that after 20 years of digital evolution they still havent managed to squeeze a 35mm sensor in a small body?

I probably wouldn't try to keep any camera in a pants pocket, no matter how small.
All of my jackets *must* have an inside chest pocket; that's where I keep my camera.
The XA2 is one of a handful of good pocket 35's light enough to live there comfortably.

Yes, I understand. But, here, we can't wear jackets but 6 months out of the year. In 90-100F + heat and humidity here in the South...the M3/R4/D2H/D2X/D40/Nikkormat/S3 2000 and a host of other film cameras just don't cut it. T-shirt, shorts and flops is the normal for the day.
A small lightweight full frame camera that will fit in the pocket changes things all for the good.

I've recently fallen in love with a Contax T3 as a full-frame pocket rocket. I'm now adjusting my wardrobe to include more cargo pants and cargo shorts for summer wear (for their pockets).
The winter, of course, will be jacket-pocket weather.
I would still prefer cargo pants to carrying a bag.

I've had my XA for close to 30 years and it's still going strong. In fact, I recently picked up an extra one here in classifieds. I've never considered recovering it, though, since a leather-type covering would make it harder to get in and out of pockets. These are great little shooters, and the lens is more than "good enough."

+1. Cargo pants or shorts are perfect ways to carry these small cams.

Sorry, there is nothing perfect about cargo pants.

When I had one I put gaf tape on the back, and a smaller piece on the front to cover the bright white oly logo. The combination was nicely grippable.

I've been shooting the XA for a good number of years and they've always come through under very trying circumstances, such as a cold, blustery , snowy day in the mtns. of Slovenia where I came across a military cemetary from WWI. The XA did a superb job with proper exposure and ease of focusing. However, as I get older and my eyesight not being what it used to be, I find I'm using my XA2 and XA3 more and more as I travel. Focusing the XA is getting difficult for me here in the very bright FL days. I came across a mint XA at Goodwill and picked it up for around $3.50. All in all, I would say I like the XA a bit more than the XA2, as it's a bit more versitle, and it would probably be a bit easier to focus in E. Europe where the days don't tend to be so bright. Probably, I could simply zone focus the XA and come out with acceptable results. All in all the whole Oly. XA series are IMHO superb picture taking machines.

Chris (Platt),
Yeah, cargo pants/shorts aren't a fashion item, but if they're not overloaded, I think they're so much more comfortable than a shoulder bag or even a belt pouch (which looks a lot like a fanny pack, an even more grievous fashion mis-step!).
There will always be a disconnect between fashion and comfort...just ask your significant other when she slips pumps on.
